Now with pages in @cpsjournal.bsky.social: can citizens use simple visualizations to benchmark their government's performance during crises? Turns out, yes: visually showing the UK as one of the "worst of the bunch" for COVID-19 mortalities led to more negative evaluations. doi.org/10.1177/0010...

Best start to the week: two long-term PhD mentees independently email to say they submitted their dissertations over the weekend. It’s great to see the next generation of political scientists coming through. Having a small role in that is very rewarding. Watch this space for their upcoming papers!

I was also interviewed about the Muslim vote and the voting potential for DENK in NRC👇
What does DENK mean for the representation of Muslims?
Here is the paper we published on DENK: doi.org/10.1080/0034...
And the paper about voting and attitudes of Muslims: doi.org/10.55271/rp0...

FWIW at least the AHRC publishes a dashboard w/info about panels and outcomes. Skimming the last few results, it seems the ECR scheme ('catalyst') funded 3/34 that made it to the panel, and the standard grant funded 2/26 that went to the panel. public.tableau.com/app/profile/...

A stellar line-up of editors and contributors that should become the marker for empirical studies involving political trust! Tagging in @isabel-ruiz.bsky.social @cvar-sil.bsky.social
Although not yet available to read (January 2026!), very happy to see our book on political trust online. Co-edited with @mfair.bsky.social and available open access, we think it'll be a useful addition to the field.

Another chance to see me profess my love (and the limits) of charts to change minds. Thanks @psapolpsychology.bsky.social for hosting! And check out the whole autumn series which looks excellent.
Finally, three weeks later on Thursday 4th December at 12:00, @williamlallen.bsky.social rounds out the series by presenting important insights into the partisan attitudinal effects of data visualisation of refugee numbers.

I’m not at #APSA2025 but this kind of video for big conference venues is super helpful for partially sighted (or just navigationally questionable) folks like myself to get around. Can watch ahead of arrival and feel more confident on site. Great work @rosalierubio.bsky.social @apsa.bsky.social!
