Many years ago (2009, in fact), I sponsored @jayfurr.bsky.social in a Susan Komen walk, and he sent me a bear who I named Susan (after a friend who sadly died from triple negative breast cancer not long thereafter). She disappeared for a while, then recently resurfaced with a burn on her bottom

We want the media and politicians to recognise that there is a large number of women who are supportive of the trans+ community. We call on them to report truthfully about the sources of violence against women and to address the systems that perpetuate harm. notinourname.org.uk/petition/not...

I feel this down to my inner core. Some days I just want to curl up and cry, and days when I don't are few and far between. It's even worse when someone you love is suffering and you can't just borrow some of their pain to give them a measure of relief.
I'm having a rough go of it lately, and have been thinking: everyone is going through something, and you have no idea what it is, or how it's affecting them.

That could so easily be me. After my sister was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, they tested her for the BRCA mutations, and it turned out she and I both have one. I had a pre-emotive BSO and a double mastectomy, with neither reconstruction nor prosthetics for the latter. Even before that, as a

Bathroom bans don't work because you can't tell whose trans by looks alone.

I was at Albuquerque's 4pm Mayday protest; I ran into a friend. I didn't do the march (my orthologist would have killed me), and I left when they began the march. If there were counter-protesters I didn't run into them, and the turnout was good. There were some good signs, but I didn't take photos.

@spacefolder.bsky.social (my husband, Andy), was reading a site where someone asked why there have been no protests, and I immediately noted there had been. I've been combing through my feed to find some of them. I found the 17 Feb 50501 protest and some of the Tesla protests.

I recently developed some severe anemia so my PCP put me on iron and also ordered a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, which were performed Monday. The doctor who performed them found a potential leak and cauterized & stapled it (highly over-simplified). He also did some biopsies of both areas.
