Whitlam Dismissal take

The greatest achievement of the Dismissal has been the crushing of the ALP’s ambition to actually bring a better world into being.

Hawke sealed the deal by making the mark of success decent management of a capitalist economy.

Now it’s just ambition to be in government.

Stop arming genocide
Australia is literally keeping Israel’s F35 fighter jets flying and bombing by sending dozens and dozens of parts directly to Israel since the genocide began.

This is actively supporting a genocide. It is criminal.

There’s so much evil in the world right now. So much in your face obvious evil that this unforgivable omnicidal act by Murray Watt and the ALP probably slides below the surface. But the impact of this on countless people and species, and First Nations culture, outweighs much of the rest. Despicable.

David Lindenmayer highlighting native forest logging in Australia is exacerbating wildfire risks. #Endnativeforestlogging
Australia’s logging industry is fuelling the flames. New research shows logged native forests are 4x more likely to burn than plantations — and stay fire-prone for decades. This isn’t forestry. It’s arson with a delay fuse. #Bushfires #Logging #AusPol #Forests #ClimateCrisis

Israel hasn't stopped gunning down the Palestinians they're starving, as those Palestinians try to feed themselves

There is nothing wrong with continuing to say it: these are war crimes, this is genocide, this is murder. It must be stopped, and those perpetrating the crimes must be held accountable

The death of manufacturing? It’s a constant refrain among the conservative nut jobs on Murdoch’s Sky After Dark and within the far right elements of the federal Coalition, who insist that more wind and solar will be the death of industry in Australia.

smooshing the accounting of carbon we dug up from underground with carbon absorbed and released by vegetation results in a clear effect where governments (and companies!) can keep emitting while pretending to be on track or even hitting targets.

I am really outraged this is allowed. It's so bad!!!
🚨 NEW Report: the way the land sector is included in national climate targets is masking the real fossil fuel emissions cuts needed to keep 1.5°C in reach.

Here’s the lowdown and what governments can do to fix it 🧵⤵️

Arendt wrote so clearly about the increasing targetting of people, starting with non-nationals, then dual nationals, then a succession of undesirable nationals. Nothing will protect you. Fascism requires an ever larger circle of enemies to blame for its own failings.
