Request to broadcasters saying the word ‘Lough’ when referring to a place, as in
Lough Foyle, Carlingford Lough, Belfast Lough, Lough Corrib, Lough Neagh, Lough Ree, Lough Derg, Lough Allen, Lough Erne, Lough Conn etc
Don’t pronounce it as ‘lock’.
Because it hurts my ear
Please always say
LOUGH.

Great article on Ireland's experience with data centres, which are driving greater fossil fuel consumption.

"The Irish case shows what happens when digital expansion outruns energy planning, and when political dependency on a small group of firms overrides climate commitments."
"Professor Daly shows that if existing, pending, and proposed gas-connected data center sites all operate at full capacity, they would emit up to 16.6 MtCO₂ per year — equivalent to 68% of Ireland’s total national emissions in 2023."

‘Intolerance’. Seriously?
No.
“… judgment said that, while Peggie had been “harassed” by the health board, she had not been “victimised or discriminated” against by having to undress before a male-bodied trans doctor,”

So Kemp seriously thinks it’s OK to force women to undress in front of men.

Ireland’s water is going green, yet the EU just approved YET another nitrates derogation...

Rural communities have spoken: they want clean rivers, not more pollution.

Science and public health are clear. It’s time to enforce the rules and safeguard Ireland’s waters.

That transport plan in brief:
If we build enough roads, instead of wasting it on active travel and public transport, that will solve all our transport problems.

The transport investment plan is out, it looks to fund all the projects we have come to know over the years.. No new investment in Luas, bar the 4km Luas Finglas line.

If you include the €2bn for Metrolink the PT & Active travel vs Roads ratio is 1.4:1

‘We need to get back to the science.’
Must-listen to learn about the complexities of Ireland’s nitrates derogation (up for review on 9 December) with scientific and farmers’ input.
Over the 19 years Ireland has had a derogation from the nitrates directive we have backed ourselves in to a corner. Which now leaves us having productive and economically viable farms or cleaner rivers and lakes, but not both.

Nitrates derogation
