Hi, just a reminder that when you use Libro.fm for your audiobooks, you support independent bookshops vs. large corporations that drive them out of business.

We also pay taxes. And so do indie bookshops.

I AM SO BEYOND EXCITED!!

Made 6 calls to my senators and representative today. Statistically, conservatives call 4x more than liberals. On big issues, conservatives call about 11x more. Calling works. It sways people on the fence. You have a voice! Calling doesn't seem like much, but it's something actionable.

Now is a very, very good time to buy hardcopy books. What are some of your favorite book covers that you're happy to have on your shelf? Two of my favorite covers are Matelots by W.A. Hoffman and the early cover for Into This River I Drown by TJ Klune.

What did everyone read/play/listen to/watch/enjoy this week?

I'm still going w/ Heated Rivalry and loving it--it's uncomplicated and fun, with juuuuust enough angst. For games, Dark Echo--scary, quick, and excellent. And I'm slowly rewatching Arcane because I may be a tiny bit obsessed.

The Reanimator's Heart is *so good! Looking forward to reading the next books in the series!
Want books that talk about pushing back against things in our own world but with necromancy and queer romance?
Book 1- the corruption of authority in the church
Book 2- quack medicine, conversion therapy, evil doctors
Book 3- how greed and wealth can corrupt generations and destroy lives
THE REANIMATOR MYSTERIES series is perfect for lovers of Gothic coziness. There are 3 books with
💀Pushing Daisies x Sleepy Hollow vibes
🫀An autistic necromancer
⚰️His reanimated lover
🪦 Solving mysteries in 1890s NYC
🏳️‍🌈MM paranormal historical romance

Was able to call both my Senators today and thank them for voting against RFK Jr. I also asked that they protect the EPA and the rights of LGBTQ+ people. I asked them and my rep to demand oversight hearings to defend the constitution. You can too, by making some quick calls.

As someone who worked in a US city library, this is not the case in the US. Ireland's library system sounds awesome, though!
I did not know about the returning at any other library. Awesome! #booksky #booktok
Public libraries are amazing!
Did you know you can borrow a book from any library in the country and return it to any other library?
Did you know they have subscriptions to huge amounts of national and international media that you can access?

Hey everyone, if you buy manga and you're looking for good prices/avoiding Amazon, can I recommend themagesemporium.com? I buy from them every few months and they're always great.

Seriously, creative folks: Don't be afraid to let people know your stuff is out there for them, or worry that "now is not the time for that." People are stressed and freaked out and looking for the things that will give them a moment of rest and joy. It is EXACTLY the time for what we do. Tell them.

Asked this on Instagram a while back and had a lot of fun with it--what are some of your favorite very specific genres/tropes?

Some of mine are:
-Soul crushing but hopeful post-apocalyptic
-Boys fighting, then writing their story as therapy
-Authors who write like their audience is smart

Slowly rereading Forging Silver Into Stars, and it's such a treat to be back in this world again. I adore the characters in this book, and the worldbuilding is fantastic.

Finally started reading Heated Rivalry, and.... I resisted this book for so long, and I'm so happy to have it right now. It's delightful and super readable. Is it the best writing ever? No. But it doesn't need to be. It's better that it's not. It's just so easy to slip into and enjoy.

Made my 6 calls earlier, asking my rep and senators to oppose nominations for RFK Jr and Tulsi Gabbard, resisit and oppose Musk, and protect DEI initiatives. Took about 15 minutes and was simple.

You can use 5Calls.org for a script and to find numbers.

Ok #booksky, I need recs for the most swoon-worthy romances found in non-romance books (preferably sci-fi or fantasy, preferably queer.)

Free speech is the right to express ideas or opinions without government censorship. It is not the right to say whatever you want on a privately owned platform, like a publishing company or writing group. Any authors who don't know this definition... probably shouldn't be touted as great authors.
I'd love help in raising awareness on this.
If we don't fight them on the small battlefields we won't defeat them on the big ones.

OK, here are the US-centric #political things I'm doing today: I'm going to call the DC and local offices of my Rep and Senators and ask them to..

-Not to confirm Trump's cabinet noms
-Push back against Musk's involvement in the government and treasury
-Push back against a Gaza takeover

This tracks though. But you can also call your reps (if you're in the US) and get involved in your community (if you're anywhere) and write all the queer romance.

I'm rereading Brigid Kemmerer's Forging Silver Into Stars and loving it as much as I did the first time.

I made 6 calls today--1 to the DC office and local office each of my senators and representative.

You can find the numbers for the offices of your specific sens and rep at www.congress.gov/contact-us

During each call, I laid out one issue I wanted the sen/rep to take action on

Hey everyone, I took off for a minute because being bombarded with awful news on here was taking a toll. That said, I like the community, and I want to be here! Also, I took some action as a US citizen that, while small, helped me feel like I was *doing* something. So....
