It seems this is due to the distrust of all social institutions seen in groups that are highly interested in anarchy as a more "natural" social form. This has taken hold in much of "popular" anarchy but there are groups that are more nuanced. The transhumanists come to mind, among others
i've been reading and listening to stuff about neurodivergence from an anarchist perspective and a lot of its good but they undermine the hell out of themselves by repeating shit about drugging children that anti vax dipshits say

A decent portion of that 1-3% also has family (found or blood) that would not be cool with them losing basic human rights
Trans people make up 1-3% of American society depending on definitions (nonbinary, trans, etc).
That is enough to swing multiple close swing state elections.
