No, you dunderhead, it's not *about* the deficits, its about the *illegal blockading and occupation of a sovereign state in the name of corporate greed*. You know, shit the fucking European trade companies (EIC, VOC, etc) would do because they're essentially corporations with military autonomy.
It’s also funny because the prequels are actually about trade deficits? Like there’s obviously the top line plot but the secondary plot is about trade

I do think there is something to infer from the fact Anakin was clearly not comfortable with wanting to be upfront and honest with the Jedi. Selfish over wanting to lead a double life. Insecure the Jedi would punish him. Ultimately he is responsible for his actions though.
Fuck it, Star Wars discourse grenade: saying the Jedi failed Anakin and didn't give him all the support he needed to stay good and so really it's their fault is basically the same two-step the media does when every white teen boy school shooter was clearly a troubled soul who needed understanding.

Then you realize that was the inspiration of Jar-Jar.

Do you care for someone who provides no value to you and is a hinderance? As Yoda was before Luke learned he could bring him to Yoda.

Qui-Gon, a good Jedi, does.

Padme was 14 years old during the events of TPM and calling his *life of slavery that his mother encourages him to leave* as a "stable arrangement" is very unhinged.
It makes more sense if you see him as the victim of child abuse. Padme grooms him. She is part of a group that takes him away from the family and stable arrangement he knows and understood, she is an adult, she is an authority figure. He comes to her as a child and wings up in her bed. He's damaged.

GameFAQs still provides pretty damn good guides for games without having to deal with bullshit UI or advertisements in your face. CTRL+F and get what you want. Just make sure the guide you're using isn't full of outdated misinformation....
Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995!

The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

Hooked up a VCR to my Trinitron WEGA for the fun of it and popped in a 1982 VHS tape of Star Wars I had gotten ahold of god knows how long ago to test it out and WOW was I spoiled growing up as a kid with the 1990s THX remaster because this release is fuckin' ROUGH to watch, might take pics later...

hope everyone had a great halloween. here's my budget ass discount Captain Harlock dressup I did for the Trick or Treaters. Pretty sure the most expensive thing in that ensemble is the damn gun I bought from Anime Expo like 8 years ago lmao

I feel this is hugely underestimating the sheer scale of production an entire galaxy of dozens of post-scarcity planets with a previously established political infrastructure could get to work pumping out battleships to maintain a militarized authority over them. the senate endured until ANH even.
4/4...too compressed. There's not enough time for the Empire to become the galactic level beast it was implied to be. And its military was, as I went into in a previous post, completely unable to establish the implied power of the Empire. It was a house of cards and misdirection from day one.

games journalism really hadn't changed much over the years, has it? lmao
One of the most inaccurate statements I've ever read about video game history. I have to assume it was cooked up for marketing purposes.

SNESmaster!
SFCD update!
added a third vehicle, the Landmaster from SF64!
Thanks to @chuckborisnorris.bsky.social for the base code.
The trick here is the turret is the real player object and the body follows it. This lets me reuse the Arwing's movement code to move the turret separately. (1/2)

hahahaha @stealth40k.bsky.social deleted his post after people called his ass out for lying

fucking jabroni, why you playing these stupid games for anyway?
October 19, 2025 at 9:49 PM
lol aaaaand i called it.

i swear, everytime Miyamoto says anything theres like a cabal of people out there who WANT to misquote/mistranslate/misrepresent what the hell he's trying to say like its a game or something. what the fuck man.
So this is just legitimate ragebait. The context was specifically about expanding the Nintendo IPs and the Nintendo Museum where they can see and use old hardware. Here's the question and answer

Dude was an absolute blight on the Destructoid community back in the day and it’s an indictment on the state of games media and discourse that random ass things he tweets get this kind of reach in 2025.

Y’all have GOT to stop uncritically sharing Stealth’s posts without checking your sources!

I can’t find a source for when and where Miyamoto supposedly said this or who translated it ANYWHERE and yet my timeline is flooded with takes on it.

in 2085, people will be playing the New Legend of Zelda. But Miyamoto wouldn't have made it. In 2085, people will probably be down to watch Zelda the Movie, released in 2027 almost 60 years ago. But how many will want to play Ocarina of Time, "that old game" from almost *90* years ago?

And as the generations that grew up with his (Miyamoto's) games grow older and, yes, eventually die, I can understand Miyamoto wanting to leave a legacy that won't be engaged with by most people 50 years after he himself has died.

i cant help but feel this is a very small out of context quote but at the same time it is kind of a depressing thing to hear come from miyamoto especially given Nintendo has their own archival museum now? part of me wonders if this is more about how old games get "left behind" culturally.

The ST is "woke" in the same way a company changing its social media logo to a rainbow every June is "woke".
Does anyone else think the Star Wars sequel trilogy might just have been too woke?
October 18, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Popular social media poster makes a funny but misinformed post about a movie plot point and the subsequent reply chains drive me insane with how many people are missing the point, or simply don't remember things, or just don't care, to the point I need to screenshot rant to get it out of my system.

this is probably a good thing for the Rocketeer at this point.
Disney has tried so hard to make Tron into a viable franchise, but they did zilch with The Rocketeer. For shame.
October 12, 2025 at 8:02 PM
Tron Ares might blow and Tron Legacy was mediocre 2010s retro-80s-nostalgia bait but seeing people talk shit about the original film like its also bad is lame. it's a great speculative fantasy with strong aesthetic integrity and most importantly remembers to make you give a shit about the characters
