It’s really cool to be voted for here and alongside so many practitioners I admire.
I’ve noticed with papers citing my work that authors often don’t read what my central thesis is and just pick out an inconsequential line. Also, lots of peer-reviewed papers on AI that seem to be written by a human just copying citations from a massive database without thinking, just to fill space.
Do not cite an academic paper unless you’ve read it

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
