"A warm, personal paean to Merriam-Webster and its staffers." 🙏 for this thoughtful, positive @washingtonpost.com review of UNABRIDGED by @djbduncan.bsky.social
Review | Can the dictionary stay relevant in the digital age?
In “Unabridged,” Stefan Fatsis explores how words become enshrined in the dictionary and whether the book maker can keep up with the evolution of language.

I think we probably take Jess Pegula's late-blooming career surge for granted:

Only Serena Williams (18) has reached more WTA-1000 finals than Jessica Pegula (7, surpassing Venus Williams) among Americans since the format’s introduction in 2009.

Genndy Tartakovsky shared test footage from his film ‘The Black Knight’. It follows a knight who controls a 20ft suit of armor. Sony isn't sure there's an audience for the film and haven’t greenlit it yet.

After Kpop demon hunters success I don't understand why Sony are dragging their feet on this!

In 1972, in Kansas, a family of four picked up a hitchhiker. Then they got into a near-fatal car crash. The hitchhiker later chronicled the event in an acclaimed short story that became a movie—and a word-of-mouth hit among Gen Xers.
The Terrifying Car Crash That Inspired a Masterpiece
Fifty years ago, a Kansas family picked up a hitchhiker on their way to Iowa. What happened on that drive became part of literary history.

Whenever people tell me that we are more innovative now than ever, I bring up ESPN Page 2 as an example of how things used to be better.

There actually used to be a website you could go to that would make you smarter about sports and the world around you. Now all you get is betting apps.
No better time to post Hunter S. Thompson on 9/12/2001.
