Thailand is facing another crisis, a big one. And now there’s a whole counter movement against youngsters whose vocality against monarchy has targets on their back. News reporter arrested for bogus charges.

And the whole thing made me squirm. Real bad.

Freedom won’t be free for long.

@adriaandthepriors.bsky.social Hi

First of all, I apologize for the way that I communicated that to you. It was never my intention. But damages were done, I should have known better.

If you ever feel like my previous post was ill-fashioned and ignorant, you’re not wrong. I WAS ignorant.

Have to reflect on mansplaining. I don’t mind being pointed out that I was wrong as long as it is not violent or just cussing.

"The appeal of issues like Brexit, gender and conspiracy is that they elevate cultural divisions over economic ones, while the influence of millionaires and billionaires over our politics is relegated from the conversation."

Why does anyone think that making YouTube video cover with AI-generated artworks is a good thing anyway? It is hideous and pretty much a void of creativity.

Today, more than 3 years since the pro-democracy protests began, we joined together at the Parliament Complex at Kiak Kai, BKK. This photo represents the majority of people being prosecuted for being politically active. Many of us are campaigning for the new amnesty bill to pass through Parliament.

For every time Brazil could embarrassed themselves, there exists this particular gem, and that of Operation Car Wash. at least they still have the balls to prosecute, unlike the Conservative Black Robes on the Bench.
the United States holds itself up as a shining beacon of democracy and is getting roundly pantsed by Brazil in holding an insurrectionist accountable

it is embarrassing, frankly
Former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has been named a target in a federal investigation into whether his government plotted a military takeover of the country, police officials told The Washington Post Thursday, and has been given 24 hours to surrender his passport.

I’m hoping our online culture is generally moving past this extremely false idea that if you wish to be Informed, you also have to be willing to view a constant sea of horrible, dumb takes from horrible, dumb people.
Good point.

Twitter after around the Arab Spring started to be viewed as an Important Global Forum in some circles - which also seems to have convinced many well-meaning people they had to be willing to entertain all kinds of malignant, stupid views if they wanted to be “informed.”
This place doesn’t carry the same self-aggrandizing image of itself as the “new public square,” which I think neuters the line of thinking that you’re *obligated* to listen. BlueSky still feels much more like a large water cooler.
