Correlation does not equal causations I’m guessing what the real story that things have gotten worse since the last public poll, where Walz was tied among DFL voters as to whether they thought he should run for a 3rd term. Jumping to a conclusion like this is insane to me

Walz was not doing well with the base here in Minnesota before all of this went down. Both the left and center flanks of the party were unsure if he could win a 3rd term back in October. Don’t speculate on shit you don’t know

Friends, we have some positive news tonight out of the Constitution, Bylaws, and Rules Committee re: the DFL Feminist Caucus.

The TL;DR of it is the entire feminist caucus leadership has to either undergo extensive training, or resign within 10 days.

Minnesota democrats issued a statement attacking their opponent solely on the basis of his criminal defense work. They essentially cite fulfilling the requirements of our Constitution as evidence of lacking a moral compass. A reminder that the erosion of the rule of law can come from all directions.
ST PAUL – Today, the DFL Party released the following statement in response to Chris Madel’s announcement of his candidacy for Governor: “Chris Madel built his career defending violent and exploitative criminals. He represented fraudsters, rapists, and pedophiles, getting many of their charges and cases thrown out along the way. Madel desperately wants to be seen as a pragmatist, yet he jumps to defend criminals charged with hate crimes against our communities. With such a checkered history of clients, he lacks a moral compass to be Governor. He would take Minnesota in the wrong direction,” said Minnesota DFL Chair Richard Carlbom. “The contradictions continue. Despite claiming to be ‘tough-on-crime,’ Madel fights to let criminals get out with little consequence. The platform of law-and-order that Chris Madel campaigns on is a farce built on years of defending Minnesota’s worst.” After an Illinois man bombed a Minnesota mosque and attempted to set fire to an abortion clinic, Madel defended him in court, claiming he “has done his level best to turn a new page in his life.” Madel got child pornography charges dropped for a man facing allegations of knowingly engaging in crimes involving sexual materials with a minor. Madel has defended clients who made violent threats against public officials and members of law enforcement. I said initially I wouldn’t really make public comment on what’s unfolded from COC tonight, but I’ve changed my mind.

I’ve talked with Chair Carlbom and DFL staff about my fears of the Feminist Caucus impacting how much queer people engage with the party.

Completely and totally unacceptable behavior from leadership of a recently chartered DFL Community Caucus. Transphobia anywhere is a threat to our community everywhere.

This is only the most recent example of transphobia being tolerated within the party. When will @dfl.org step in to stop this?

My statement on tonight's DFL Feminist Caucus Annual Meeting. This statement is being emailed to the Feminist Caucus Chair, Alicia Gibson, and to the State DFL Chair, Richard Carlbom.

This caucus should be ashamed of itself.
Tonight, I attended my first and last DFL Feminist Caucus meeting. As someone who did not come by my feminism through how I was raised, but rather fought my way through to live as the gender I am and to exist as a non-binary person in this world, I found the experience to be demeaning, demoralizing, and actively anti-feminist. If being a feminist in the DFL means caucusing with this group, count me out. My pronouns are very simple and yet the caucus chairs and caucus leadership could not get them correct, despite being repeatedly reminded and corrected at every single opportunity. However, they could suddenly use the singular “they” when it came to my fellow caucus member who happened to be a trans woman, despite her repeatedly giving her pronouns as she/her. This was just the beginning. It was clear from the start that no one leading this meeting understood Robert’s Rules, and very clearly wanted to vote for their friends and be done with it. At the very beginning, an illegal motion was made to just adopt an entire slate of leadership, despite there being challengers to those positions known to the caucus. For me, however, the most hurtful thing was that despite repeatedly affirming that underrepresented people should run for caucus office, should be prioritized in the process, no trans or non-binary people were represented in any of the caucus leadership, much less respected in the meeting. My pronouns - they/them - were clearly seen as an inconvenience, met with eyerolls and annoyance whenever I corrected people. At one point, one of the newly elected caucus leadership claimed her pronouns are “Black Queen,” a clear mockery of the process of asking for pronouns altogether. Does this reflect DFL values? To mock a non-binary person whose community is under direct attack from the president himself? To refuse to use a person’s proper pronouns so repeatedly and without care that I had to make a SIGN with them on it for the meeting? It wasn’t as though my pronouns were a surprise. I sent in my statement of intent to run for Vice Chair the day before the meeting and it was sent out to all members. I identified my pronouns in that statement. And yet, they were ignored. The DFL Feminist Caucus is anything but. I resign my membership.
