If you are watching the original 1967 version? When Sidney Poitier stood up and said "they call me Mister Tibbs" to the white police chief? The WHOLE THEATER stood up in applause (I am 66 years old). Lesson? As a Black boy in 1967? It was OK to be smart! Plus Poitier was soooo handsome.

Same here.
I wasn't falling over myself with Marty Supreme. Its an overall fine movie. Tbh, Im not surprised that Timothee Chalamet beat out Michael B. Jordan though. Hollywood is trying to make fetch happen with him big time especially if you see how influencers have been used to push Marty Supreme.

THREAD. Lord knows I have been saying this since 1980. Then the political dominoes start -- "Reagan isn’t as bad as Bush Sr. who's not as bad as Bush Jr. who's not as bad as Trump . . . "
I personally dont believe in lost causes I think these conversations need to happen in the community. I just told my mama yesterday that the Black community in the US is getting CRUSHED silently by the constant economic upheaval we’ve been facing since Reagan

If kidnapping a foreign president isn’t enough to get him out of office, why would the Epstein files be a silver bullet?

Two states spoke with one voice.
One chose neglect and calls it pride.
The other chose care and calls it duty.

Outcomes are not mysteries.
They are receipts.
Vote for abandonment and it will never let you go.

Donald Trump can’t run America, but now he wants to go run Venezuela — all while the American people can’t afford health care or groceries.

We don’t want another foreign war, we want lower costs for working families. But Trump is too busy with oil, oligarchs, greed, and power.

Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth's baseless targeting of Senator Mark Kelly, a patriot who proudly serves our country, is disgraceful, craven, and wrong.

#USA is not at war with #Venezuela unless and until it is authorized by an act of Congress.

Until then, it is an unconstitutional action of 47 involving the DoD in an illegal move in Venezuela.

The people of USA have not authorized a war. Far from it.

On January 4, 1971 the Congressional Black Caucus was organized. This was the realization of Rep. Charles Diggs (D-MI), who created the "Select Democracy Committee" to bring together Black Members of Congress.

Don't know about the Congressional Black Caucus?

Glad you asked.

This is a reminder the most dangerous times in the lives of too many Black women are (a) during maternity and child birth, and (b) leaving a toxic relationship.
In a statement, the American College of Nurse-Midwives called her death a “profound failure of the systems meant to protect birthing people.”

“That a Black midwife and maternal health expert died after giving birth in the United States is both heartbreaking and unacceptable.”
Dr. Janell Green Smith, a midwife who advocated for Black maternal health, dies of childbirth complications

Nixon insisted the bombing of Cambodia was just targeting Viet Cong outposts there and not meant to undermine its government, but the bombings destabilized the Lon Nol government and paved the way for the Khmer Rouge’s killing fields and the massacre of more than a million people.
NBC's sources said that "the potential mission in Mexico is not designed to undermine the Mexican government." But that's what it will do if the US is doing CIA drone strikes on Mexican soil over the objections of the president.
