“With literally minutes left in his presidency, Joe Biden on Monday granted clemency to Leonard Peltier, the ailing Native American rights activist whom the U.S. government put in prison nearly 50 years ago after a trial riddled with misconduct and lies.” www.huffpost.com/entry/joe-bi...
Joe Biden Frees Leonard Peltier
The ailing Native American rights activist has been in prison for nearly 50 years after the U.S. government lied to put him there.

worries me a bit that we can’t get beyond arguing the semiotics of a
gesture anyone can see, done by a guy who spent billions on bringing the nazis back to twitter, who endorsed the AfD, etc etc

I’m just going to say that AOC is the acting leader of the Democratic Party until someone proves otherwise. At least insofar as she is responding to the moment with leadership.

Looking to the future, the greatest challenge America faces is the lawlessness and recklessness of the new executive branch and the total fealty the president commands in the Republican party. Seems to me there ought not be any role for bipartisanship in what’s coming. bsky.app/profile/schu...
It is time to look to the future.

The challenges that face America are many and great.

The Senate must respond with resolve, bipartisanship, and fidelity to the working and middle class of this country.

In the space of half a day, the new administration has trashed the Constitution, subverted the independence of the DOJ, granted a broad amnesty to traitors, abandoned the global community on climate and public health, and launched a wide-ranging attack on minority rights.

Project 2025 is here. Trump is implementing all of it. His denials were typical Trump lies, repeated by his allies in the media who wanted him to win.
Trump has rescinded Biden’s Executive Order 14087, “Lowering Prescription Drug Costs for Americans,” which included things like lowering state Medicaid costs for the most expensive therapeutics, reducing Medicare payments for proven drugs, and creating a flat, $2 Medicare copay for generic drugs
Trump’s initial orders reverse Biden on health care costs, protections from discrimination
Trump's executive orders took aim at Biden's priorities, from drug pricing to gender discrimination.

Congrats to all the dummies of every political stripe. Y’all really got your man.
It took Trump 3 hours to delete the Spanish version of the White House website and the White House’s Spanish Twitter account.

Trump won 42% of the Hispanic vote.

Musk comes from a family that moved to South Africa *for* the racism. He has repeatedly endorsed Great Replacement Theory in the US & Neo-Nazis of the AfD in Germany. He championed the rights of white nationalists and restored Nazi accounts to Twitter.

But I'm sure the Nazi salute was an accident.

The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky

There’s a sort of Trump apologist, a relatively small but loud subset, who probably don’t realize or intend to be, but are so attached to a previous hyperbolic claim that they deny anything important changed.

-US was already an oligarchy
-US was already fascist
-Biden gave Israel a blank check

Love to see people aggressively lie about Democratic positions on LGBT issues. Really warms the heart knowing there are folks out there telling vulnerable kids they aren’t scared enough because the party that sent a transgender legislator to congress is no different than the one in bed with Nazis.

the problem with saying we need a “Joe Rogan for the left” is that Rogan was not a creation of conservatives. he was a regular guy who became conservative because he’s very stupid.

I feel like I felt after the 2004 election. In 2000, Bush didn't win, but he took power thanks to SCOTUS In 2004, he actually won and, despite 9/11 and letting Bin Laden escape and the disaster in Iraq and the recession and and and ... won by a better margin.

This feels like that, to me.
