I created a starter pack of public defenders, civil rights attorneys, and people and orgs tracking, writing about, and fighting against the carceral state (including family policing and immigrant detention). Please share! It's a work in progress so let me know of others to add! go.bsky.app/K48M8Ud
I haaate to defend her, but she's not wrong. It doesn't excuse/justify the actions of sex traffickers & rapists, but the term pedophile has an actual definition (sexual attraction/obsession with pre/pubescent children specifically) & the way people throw it around for everything is problematic, imo.

A brutal 2–1 decision from the 5th Circuit forcing the removal of a young girl to Venezuela even though she has lived in Texas for years and it is the only home she can remember. The dissent verges on incandescence in its fury and despondency. Incredibly bleak.

The Speaker of the House shut the chamber down for two months to block the release of the Epstein Files and the president is huddled in the Situation Room of the White House to formulate a plan to keep them from being released, and I don't know why you crazy libs think there's some kind of cover up.

Wow! A new low for Ken Paxton. His deranged press release claims that there cannot be any legitimate purpose for legal defense for people facing deportation — effectively saying that removal defense is not legitimate and only “radicals” would want people to have lawyers.

Horrid stuff from him.

Pretty cool how the military-industrial complex gladly assists fascist propaganda, with with what must be thousands of people in the Pentagon and Lockheed Martin staying silent—not even tipping off reporters anonymously when it was happening—while Republicans blatantly lied to the public.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

What's materially changed? A *promise* is not action. ALSO fascists lie and I've been told by some Senate Dems that the GOP is fascist.
