There was an agreement.
It was called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. It was designed to prevent regional conflict.
Trump pulled out of it in 2018.
Now he's pissed he can't negotiate a new deal and we are closer to regional war.

Art of the deal, babay!

AJC also came out against the Muslim ban in Trump's first term. Jewish orgs are not fooled by games of persecution done in our name. People who make lists inevitably put Jews on them.
The American Jewish Committee has come out against President Donald Trump’s new executive order banning travel to the United States from 12 countries, saying it will prevent those in need of real refuge from entering the United States. www.jpost.com/diaspora/art...
Trump’s new travel ban will block ‘those in need of real refuge,’ American Jewish Committee says
The stance by one of the world’s largest Jewish organizations comes as some Jewish groups have signaled a growing unease with Trump’s policies.

Donald Trump pardoned the “Camp Auschwitz” guy, dined with Holocaust deniers, and said, “any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion.” He doesn’t care about fighting antisemitism. He’s using it as an opportunity to dismantle higher education and further his authoritarian agenda.

We don't succumb to hopelessness.

We have agency and smart thought-leaders who advocate for us through example.
@jewishwonk.bsky.social is one such example:
I see many Jews express fear in response to last night's murders.

It is a natural emotion, but it should be approached cautiously.

Fear can be paralyzing. It can cloud your judgement. Incoming thread with some advice.

In the Jewish morning prayer service, every day we say, "Blessed is the One who spoke and there was a world." This is in reference to the third verse of Genesis in which it is written, "God said, 'Let there be light,' and there was light."

People routinely forget that the holy exists in the mundane. Even in the dirt we think we own.

The text reminds us that the holy exists everywhere. That we shouldn't rely on our memories but build it into our social structures and calendars.

A powerful lesson.

Republicans: Thoughts and prayers. Now's not the time to politicize this issue.

[Biden's cancer diagnosis:]

Kingsley Wilson, the newly-appointed DoD Deputy Press Secretary, believes in a thoroughly-debunked antisemitic conspiracy theory. I've mostly only seen this theory promoted by mask-off neo-Nazis.

And it cost US taxpayers more than 22 billion dollars.
In the first Trump administration, Trump crashed US soybean exports .

In honor of the Oscars and Friday's Oval meeting:

1) One of my favorite movies is THE SOCIAL NETWORK.

At the end of the movie, "Eduardo" (Andrew Garfield) learns he is no longer part of Facebook and tells "Zuckerberg" (Jesse Eisenberg) he is coming back "for everything!"

Measles outbreaks are back. Grocery and gas prices are up. Bird flu is spreading. All our allies hate us. Air travel is getting unsafe. The stock market is tanking. The government is about to shut down.

And he’s only been President for six weeks. This is just the beginning.

Russia does not want to end the war, and the Trump administration has shown no ability to induce Russia to end the war. And so, predictably, the Trump administration blames the victim, blames Ukraine.

Today is Rosh Chodesh Adar, the month in which Jews celebrate Purim.

As I read this statement, I am reminded of Mordechai, another Jew who refused to bow to a hateful, evil man.

Today, in the Oval Office, the United States bent the knee to a dictator. We should all be ashamed.
BREAKING

President Trump just released this statement after meeting with President Zelenskyy in the Oval Office.

That meeting devolved into a shouting match with both President Trump and Vice President Vance berating Zelenskyy.

Strength! Patriotism! Freedom!
Lower costs! Strong economy!

Just some of the things I'm thinking about as we watch the president and vice president of the United States roll over for a dictator.

They adore dictators and scorn democracies. They shriek at our allies in front of cameras. They gut our own government and intelligence services. They beg a murderer to cut deals.

They call all of this strength.

I call them weak greedy fools.

Well, Hamas could easily have, you know, produced images proving their claims. They couldn't even produce all the bodies. Shockingly, the infant kidnappers who livestreamed a grandmother's execution on her Facebook page may not have been entirely on the level.
I don’t believe anything the IDF says.

Our government is engaged in peace talks with an actual war criminal who oversaw the kidnapping of over 20,000 Ukrainian children and not a peep from the left.

Meanwhile, Jewish families were murdered and torn apart and the left cheered.

We won't forget.

Not good news, but needs to be said: Hamas claimed that Israel killed the Bibas children and their mother in an airstrike. Forensic examination of the corpses reveals the kids were murdered and that Hamas didn't even send back the mother, but a random body. Depravity piled upon lies.
