If I wasn’t clear: Tikvah Fund, which is run by one billionaire, funds a TON of stuff in the US conservative (political, not denominational) Jewy ecosystem, and it turns out they funded Bibi’s book translation to Hebrew RIGHT before the 2022 election, thus helping prop up this monster’s regime.
Breaking my never-sharing-substacks principle because this story is that important:

The billionaire-driven Tikvah fund drives a ton of (conservative, duh) stuff in the US Jewish universe. -- Tablet, Mosaic, Azure, fellowships, funds orgs etc.

I hope the implications of this for US Jewry MATTER.
Tikvah, a US Jewish educational nonprofit, helped Benjamin Netanyahu publish his autobiography two weeks before he won reelection
Tikvah said Netanyahu’s ‘My Story’ would ‘advance understanding about the practice of statesmanship’

I loved Bill Moyers' show. And I treasure the books of his wholehearted interviews about poetry, Genesis, mythology, and so much more. I wish he'd talked with Robert Caro. Extraordinary life.

This is devastating for so many. If you've got any $$ to share, Danya's right: Planned Parenthood and your local abortion fund need support now more than ever. As a pastor, please let me assure you that so many folks you know and love rely on these services for their well-being.
PPFA does so, so much more than abortion care— the access they offer re: contraception, prenatal /postpartum care, gender affirming care, vax, HIV prevention & care, mental health, etc — Is major.

This is devastating.

AND supporting them AND your local abortion fund matters now more than ever.
🚨By a 6–3 vote, the Supreme Court ALLOWS states to defund Planned Parenthood, holding that Medicaid does not give patients a right to obtain care from its providers. All three liberals dissent. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

For those who live elsewhere, this is the heart of downtown #LosAngeles. My friends are here. My union is here (sup @wgawest.bsky.social). My teenager is here. People are passing out pastries & singing & praying. All we want is for our neighbors not to be kidnapped off the streets.

Yes, “disaster” is the correct word – this is a public health catastrophe. The pressure for him to resign should begin tonight, and continue until it happens. Nothing else should be in front of this. Go to a 19th century cemetery anywhere in this country to know why.
RFK Jr.‘s extreme anti-vax views — and his related conflicts of interest — were a huge problem during his confirmation process.

So he promised not to change the vaccine advisory panel.

Today, he fired every single expert on that panel. It's a public health disaster.
RFK Jr. ousts entire CDC vaccine advisory committee
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has removed every member of a scientific committee that advises the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on how to use vaccines.

BREAKING: Federal agents in plain clothes and unmarked cars tried to snatch 1st graders from LA elementary schools—told staff they had “parental consent.”

They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.

They are withholding this student's diploma.

Whether or not you agree with him, you cannot say you're trying to educate students to stand up and speak out when they feel they need to, and then threaten to withhold the diploma they have *earned* when they do this.
Here is a clip of the student's speech.

What if every primary was contested and the candidates competed to see who could out public service each other even before being elected?
Thanks to y’all, our campaign food drive for Evanston Community Fridges was a huge success!

We were able to completely stock the empty pantry, provide frozen and refrigerated food for the community, and (least importantly) give out some campaign yard signs while we were at it!

Looking for little joys today: youngest child asked me who Aretha Franklin was in the way to school
and so I pulled up the greatest hits album that I used to have. I’ve subsequently been enjoying Ms. Aretha all day.

The battle of our day is no longer about Democrats versus Republicans or left versus right.

The choice right now is democracy or dictatorship. And we're sliding faster than I ever thought possible into the latter.

Everyone must choose which side they’re on.

As our editor-in-chief said back in November: Our job is to give readers an independent, verifiable account of what’s happening, even if the president is calling us enemies of the people or bloodsuckers.

At ProPublica, our mantra is that we bring the receipts to every story we publish:
What We’ll Be Covering in a Second Trump Administration
We’ll be devoting a significant part of our staff to detailing what are expected to be dramatic changes in the role of the federal government in the lives of Americans.

We’re not alone and there’s room for all kinds of contributions in the movement to “make this flying rock safer and more free for more people.”
I am just looking around today, feeling overwhelmed by the number of extraordinary people I know who have been working very hard for a very long time towards making this flying rock safer and more free for more people.

I know these times are scary. They are.

But we're not alone. You are not alone.
