In ‘09, I had to do an entertainment industry internship to graduate from CSUF. The previous year, I wrote an essay about being Autistic that was published in a book. The career counselor told me to omit it from my cover letter. I still have this email to remind me why I fight for Autism acceptance.
Battletoads has been added to Nintendo Classics! I’m already seeing people say if you use the rewind feature, you didn’t really beat the game. I don’t abide this gatekeeping. If you reach the end of the game and finish it, you beat it. This comes from someone who has been a gamer since the NES days.

The San Diego Padres announced Craig Stammen as the new manager and so many Padres fans on FB are spouting doom and gloom about the 2026 season. I was stunned, but if you’ve followed the Padres as long as I have, it’s a logical choice considering how long he’s been with the team in some capacity.

I really should post more. The problem is I don’t put anything out on the internet unless I have something substantial to say, and even then I spend so much time editing it that in the end I don’t have the mental energy to finish and post. I hope to overcome this over my second year here.

I’ve been lifting weights. I recently downloaded an app to structure my workouts. I overslept the last 2 days and felt I had no time to work out before my shift; the workout was 60 minutes per the app. Today I followed the workout and finished in 30. My body feels great but my mind feels deceived.

If my writing about autism does anything, whether it be in my books, my columns or my reported stories, I hope it advances the idea that autistic people are whole human beings as they are with legitimate needs and inner lives that deserve to be told the same as other stories.

Between myself and four others, we knocked on 61 doors and of the almost dozen that answered the door, several said they would vote for Paloma while others were undecided. Those that didn’t answer got a door hanger and are at the very least aware that there is a special election.
In less than an hour, I’ll be canvassing for Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre for the District 1 special election for the County of San Diego Board of Supervisors, which is currently split 2-2. Her opponent, Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, is anti-labor and won’t condemn ICE’s recent abuses.

This is a tough choice, but I’m going with Blockbuster Video. There’s something about browsing the aisles and either finding what you’re looking for or discovering a hidden gem. This is not an experience you can truly replicate on a streaming platform.

Mitch McConnell going from looking mighty pleased to looking mighty glum within seconds when John McCain gave the thumbs-down on repealing the ACA is classic and must never be forgotten.
For those who say we are overreacting because there will be no cuts to Medicaid, here's a reminder that the only reason we still have health care is because we fought like hell to defend it in 2017.

It’s a fact: Cleaning the litter box is easier and at least 95% less gross when wearing gloves.

Last October, my favorite coffee shop reduced its hours, dealing a major blow to my routine. I no longer had a place to decompress and socialize M-Th. I continued to go when I could, but two weeks ago I decided to stop going.

I was at the Padres team store and saw a Padres retro pillbox hat that cost $42. A guy standing next to me said that costs the same as two beers. I’ve always suspected that beer at Petco Park is expensive but now I’m really glad I gravitate towards the lemonade if I need something to drink.

This is why you never leave a Padres game early!

I’m at the Padres/Angels game, and I am seeing a lot of red and white in the stands. I love that a lot of fans have made the trip down the I-5 to see a 16-23 team in this economy. It’s just too bad that Arte Moreno can’t be bothered to put together a team worth watching. Angels fans deserve better.

There is a 2-2 split on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors due to Nora Vargas not taking the oath of office. D1 voters will soon have a choice between Paloma Aguirre, a pro-labor champion and Mayor of Imperial Beach, and John McCann, an anti-worker Republican and Mayor of Chula Vista.

In 2021, a venture capitalist tried to get a similar anti-labor law passed in California via ballot initiative but abandoned it. The only poll taken on it revealed not a single demographic (including whites and even Republicans) supported it.
A ballot measure to repeal an anti-labor law has met the threshold for signatures to get on the 2026 ballot in Utah.

Protect Utah Workers collected 320,000+ signatures—over twice the required amount.

They're seeking to defend public sector workers' collective bargaining rights.

Going to jail should never be a death sentence.
A 40-year-old man died from dehydration in 2022 after being detained for more than two months inside the Tarrant County jail, one of at least three people with documented mental illness to die of thirst in the jail’s custody in recent years. boltsmag.org/texas-j...

I love that soon I won’t have to travel across the continent to visit a Nintendo Store. When I went to NYC two years ago to see my Padres play the Yankees, I paid a visit to the Nintendo Store. I didn’t buy anything, but the experience of awe and wonder I felt walking around was all I needed.

I once had a “neighbor” who used his apartment as an AirBnB. Our complex used RUBS to bill utilities. This meant with at least two people using his studio apartment every day, my utilities cost $15 more per month. I narc’d on him and that day he took down his listing and gave his 30 days notice.
BOYCOTT AIRBNB!!!

The billionaire co-founder of Airbnb, Joe Gebbia, said on Thursday that he had joined Elon Musk’s Department of Governmental Efficiency to tackle one of the federal bureaucracy’s most intractable problems: an almost entirely paper-based retirement system for its employees.

#AskingAutistics I’m reading The Annotated Memoirs of Ulysses S. Grant, and it contains LOTS of annotations, and detailed ones at that. When reading books with annotations, which is easier for you, reading the whole page first and then the footnotes or reading the footnotes as you come across them?

When I send emails to external customers, I use “M.” (So instead of Mr. Doe or Ms. Doe, I say M. Doe.) I can’t assume gender based on whether the name is masculine or feminine.
A lot to say about the memo and this is a minor issue, but I genuinely don’t understand the pronoun objection in emails— a lot of people have gender neutral names and it’s nice to know!
Just released memorandum from OPM:

Federal facilities will now have a bathroom ban for transgender people.

It will go into effect on the 31st.

It also has a slew of effects and puts into place the 1st anti-trans EO policies for every agency.

This will have a ton of impacts very quickly.
