That being said, for me it can be more aggravating and stressful to constantly rewind a few seconds than it is to fail and start all over.

Fair question, and it’s one that will be answered next season. I will say I feel better about this hiring than I ever did about Andy Green’s and Jayce Tingler’s because Stammen has been with the team as a pitcher and special assistant since ‘16 and has the respect of the players.

Tommy Lasorda was the best manager in Dodgers history but as a pitcher he went 0-4 with a 6.48 ERA. His predecessor Walter Alston, who led them to their first championship in 1955, went 0-1 with a strikeout in his only MLB game. Dave Roberts’ stats as a player are mediocre overall.

And if you’re disappointed that they decided to go with a former relief pitcher instead of Albert Pujols, history shows that the best players don’t often make the best managers. Ted Williams, manager of the lowly Washington Senators, learned the hard way that not everyone could hit like he did.

Never mind that none of the finalists had MLB managerial experience. (I can’t remember right now if they didn’t have MiLB managerial experience.) If you’re going to go with someone that has never managed in the majors or minors, you go with the best internal candidate.

I’ve been using it since around 2020, mostly for group texts with my best friends because one of them had message delivery delay issues using regular texts. To me it’s just the same as regular texting.

I work for the local Medical Examiner. For suspected homicides 99% of the time the investigating law enforcement agency will request an information hold, meaning we can’t release any information, not even to families, in order to protect the integrity of their investigation.

I’m one of them! I’m a proud member of SEIU Local 221 (San Diego and Imperial Counties). Believe me, this is very personal.

I’ve been a die-hard San Diego Padres fan for as long as I’ve been alive. Believe me, I learned that lesson very quickly. (I turn 40 in November, so that should give you an idea of all the ups and downs - mostly downs - us Padres fans have been through over the years.)

The only player that comes to mind is Phil Nevin when he played for the Padres. He produced during a period when the Padres were in the doldrums, but he had a major attitude problem.

I live in an area that has lots of bars and places to hang out. Once the contract negotiations are done and I have more energy to look for a new hangout, I will find one. In the meantime, I’m going to take advantage of having more time in the mornings by making my weekends productive. /end

I chose not to tell any of the staff of my decision to stop going. I felt going about this quietly was the way to go. If any of them see me out in public and ask why, I’ll give them an honest answer. I bear no ill will towards the coffee shop and wish them continued success. /7
