Kansas City must do better at preserving historic buildings and building that give older neighborhoods their character before everything is just empty lots or nondescript 5 over 1s

I will simultaneously acknowledge that the Gillham Bike Lane is both the best protected bike lane in the city and the most disappointing -- because this is actually very feasibly along most of it.
Thoughtful street design moves beyond simply squeezing people into the margins of what already exists. It intentionally allocates generous, protected space to create an inviting and efficient network that makes sustainable transport a joyful, everyday choice.

It would be amazing if at least a few Republican Senators found their backbone and stood up to Putin. Maybe the backbone discovery would help them standup to Trump also
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the Senate was prepared to impose sanctions on Russia, even as President Trump suggested he was no longer considering them after meeting with President Putin.

Other Republicans had harsher words for the Kremlin.
Republicans in Congress take a harder line on negotiations with Putin
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-South Dakota) emphasized that the Senate was prepared to impose sanctions on Russia to keep it at the negotiating table in its war with Ukraine.

As ridiculous as this headline seems, Missouri's governor continues to do this to Kansas City's police
So far, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is saying nothing in response to Trump’s announcement that he’s deploying National Guard troops to the city and taking control of the city’s police force to combat crime.

42% of Texas voters in 2024 voted for Democrats. But the state's republicans are trying to make 79% of the state's representatives be Republicans - not by instituting popular policies. They know their policies are garbage. But by gerrymandering votes.
Texas state lawmakers have unveiled a proposed new gerrymandered congressional map that would carve out Trump's requested five red-leaning districts.

State Republicans hope the new gerrymandered map will give them 30 of the state's 38 seats.

About a year ago neighbors spoke up to save this old building on Linwood. It appears those efforts were short-lived and demo has started. Looks like we will have yet another empty midtown lot because KC refuses to hold speculators accountable @mayorq.bsky.social

This actually makes sense. Ticks general service to the universe is to spread disease and reduce overpopulations of species. Take care of yourselves folks.
As winters get warmer, ticks of several kinds are flourishing in ways that threaten people’s health. Here's how can you protect yourself.
