Palmer amaranth, Amaranthus palmeri, is a weed that causes massive losses to crop yields. It was recently found in certain Safeway bird seeds. These bags are now being recalled!

Feels like one of the biggest impacts of the Trump tariffs will be on clothing. China, Bangladesh, Vietnam, etc are all big exporters of clothes to the US, and there just aren’t domestic producers to substitute.

The State House of Representatives passed legislation to prevent the National Guard from other states from entering Washington without our permission.

I look forward to signing it and joining a bipartisan group of states that have this protection.
Bill advances to restrict outside National Guard from entering WA • Washington State Standard
A bill that passed the state House would give the governor power to limit other states’ National Guard troops from deploying in Washington.

Trump and Musk are basically trying to deskill America:
1) kill all white-collar jobs and replace them with AI
2) kill universities
3) use tariffs to turn the U.S. into an economic island manufacturing, oil and ag hub
4) empty the cities
5) push men into manual labor & women back into the kitchen

Schumer made the choice to split the party to pass a partisan Republican spending bill
Pretty stunning statement from Jeffries, Clark and Aguilar denouncing Schumer's decision to vote for the CR. "We remain strongly opposed to the partisan spending bill under consideration in the Senate."

Schumer’s decision is an unconscionable surrender that shows he does not have what it takes to meet this moment, and the charade he pulled yesterday makes it even worse. Time for new leadership in the Democratic Party.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable.

Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes.

Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

Trump is driving up housing costs. Tariffs are jacking up the cost of building. Deportations are harming the construction workforce. By gutting HUD, DOGE is undermining rental subsidies & mortgage assistance for first-time homebuyers.

We already have a housing shortage. Trump is making it worse.
Building a home in the Bay Area is already expensive. Trump’s tariffs could make it worse
U.S. home builders import a substantial amount of their materials from Canada, Mexico and China, against which Trump has levied high tariffs.

down, it is going to be on Trump and his minions. It is not going to be on us because we weren't elected to gut social security, medicaid, medicare, and USAID. That's not what we campaigned on. So that's not what we're going to do.
