i watch them with reverence,
the way they float and flicker,
pearl white specks in a sea of black
and i am jealous of the way
they light the night
i have always been more shadow

The messaging from this administration has the same vibe as a cross set ablaze in someone’s front yard. It’s about communicating menace and instilling terror, the opposite of what the government of a free and democratic society should be doing.

and origami hearts
safely stored in crepe cages

saturn rings grip an arctic heart
milk-bone teeth gnash the night
a weight is tied tight
to your haunted eyes
and i watch you
slip
between the hands of grace
fall
below the holy surface
sink
into shadows that rise like waves
there is no saving those
who only dream of drowning

If you can't ask the question, then that side is extreme. Pendulum swingers. Fragile logic. Asking is the most compassionate thing we can do in a imploding society. Everyone thinks they know. Asking requires listening and exchanging. The best questions are uncomfortable to answer but crucial to ask.

No, JD, belonging in America does not depend on how many generations of your family have lived here. The values of this country matter - deeply - to who we are and what it means to be American.

Sixty years ago today, Medicare and Medicaid were signed into law - securing health care for millions and saving countless lives. As GOP politicians try to tear them down, it's up to us to protect and expand these programs for Americans who rely on them today and for future generations.

Think about what the GOP is revealing with their attempt to suddenly change the Congressional maps: they know their agenda is so unpopular that they're going to lose unless something changes.

Of course, what they should be changing is their policies, not the maps.

To them every part of government - even Social Security - is just a source of enrichment for their billionaire friends. "Privatizing" Social Security is just about getting Wall Street a bunch of fees to manage money.
Treasury Secretary Bessent on 'Trump Accounts':

"It is a backdoor for privatizing Social Security....That's a game changer."
