see, the thing *i’m* genuinely worried about is that RFK will effectively ban vaccines
Breaking:

WASHINGTON (AP) - Health secretary removes every member of scientific committee that advises the CDC on how vaccines should be used.

We don’t need to back off the American Gestapo and we don’t need to respect its agents. People exercising state violence are not entitled to anonymity. Nor are the people directing the state violence.
MIKE JOHNSON: From the people who mandated mask wearing for years, it's absurd. They need to back off ICE & respect our agents

Q: So you're ok w/agents not identifying themselves when they're arresting migrants?

J: Why, so they can target them? So they can put names and faces online and dox them?

Everything suffers and everyone dies, so why not strive to make our time here, together, as warm, as compassionate, as caring, as kind, as good as it possibly can be?

I don’t know if the new Superman movie will be good, but it’ll have to outdo 1987’s Nuclear Man and… tall order, really.
a man is standing in front of a city with a body of water in the background
Alt: Nuclear Man slowly flies into frame with an evil grimace on his face. He turns up his hands revealing fabulous metallic nuclear fingernails. Superman does a double take.

Great 🧵. I’ve rushed my son to the ER for this exact treatment several times. It’s a simple, effective tool that’s a literal miracle for a panicked parent. It was built on generations of science funded by a caring public. To think we are losing that caring public is an unimaginable tragedy.
On Friday, my son stayed home from school because he had a sore throat and wasn’t feeling well. He went with my husband to his office for the morning while I handled our daughter. When he came back at lunch, he was not interested in eating, saying his throat hurt too much. 1/n

This is wild. I read to my kids all the time. I read around them. I read in front of them, behind them. There are books in every corner of our home. I take books everywhere we go. Reading is one of the great joys of life. Raft a river, skydive out of a plane, read a book to your kids! Do it!
A recent survey “shows a steep decline in the number of parents reading aloud to young children, with 41% of 0- to four-year-olds now being read to frequently, down from 64% in 2012.” [theguardian.com]
Most parents don’t enjoy reading to their children, survey suggests
Report from Nielsen and HarperCollins shows that parents see reading as a literacy skill, rather than something to encourage their children to love

It's a high bar, but this from @radleybalko.bsky.social might be one of the most fucked up things I've read in the new Trump era. For context, this TX lawyer had just had an informal conversation with a family caught up in ICE raids.

Seriously. Read this. radleybalko.substack.com/p/the-courag...

This whole order is important. Potentially historic. Read it.
