Where are they going to? 58% of migrant departures of New Zealand citizens went to Australia. Going to a country with Fair Pay Agreements, a growing economy, low energy prices, and a capital gains taxation system. For some reason that doesn’t seem to so be unpopular.

I am absolutely tired of wāhine having to carry the burden of challenging our racist and misogynistic systems. I am begging our men to step up and help us. My hope is that, finally, we see an institution shaken to its core and ready to listen. And that other sectors follow suit.

Recalling the time some male Wellington leaders, including Police, were outraged that I hadn’t publicly condemned Tamatha Paul. One even called me out in front of other community leaders. Many of us connected to marginalised communities know Tam was speaking truth, which we’re seeing play out live.

Once they recognised they could get away with presenting ‘multiple hats’ as a way of justifying selective acknowledgement of facts and blocking scrutiny by parliament and media, it was only a matter of time for selective acknowledgement to become a ‘protocol’ in the official communications loop.
Periodic reminder that the role of Secretary (as in a minister's Private Secretary who handles their correspondence) is traditionally to keep secrets FOR the sovereign power (ie the minister), not to keep secrets FROM the sovereign power so they can enjoy plausible deniability when shit blows up
