Beshear: Let me be clear. The president has both the funding and the authority to fund snap during a shutdown. In fact, every other president in every other shutdown has done so. People going hungry in this instance is a choice that this president has made.

This was horrific to watch. Agents entering a daycare, wrestling with and abducting a teacher in front of small screaming children. I just… what the fuck are we doing here.
this morning, ICE went into a Spanish language immersion daycare and took a teacher from the building in front of screaming and crying kids and parents at dropoff and the daycare had to shut down for the day (near Lane Tech, where they were yesterday). Really hoping today's "theme" is not "daycare."

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

It's always amazing to me how American politics vilifies someone like Mamdani or AOC for their outrageous, dangerous, socialist takes, and meanwhile in Canada there are candidates like them in every election, anywhere. It really is okay to care about people and the world you're building together

Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

I love this podcast. And this automatically became one of my favorite episodes.
Tomorrow it'll be Jonathan Lethem on the podcast. His latest book, A DIFFERENT KIND OF TENSION: NEW AND SELECTED STORIES (Ecco), was the October book club pick. We last talked back in—I think it was 2013. So it's been a minute. And great to catch up.
