This misses the key distinction which is that the Online Safety Act (& KOSA in the U.S.) is about punishing, censoring and surveilling *users*. None of these “child safety” laws are about punishing actual big tech companies. They’re ONLY about censoring speech, they reward big tech financially

I finally came out as a trans woman to my parents and sisters last week! The only part of my life where I have to remain in the closet is at work. Unfortunately it’ll take a regime change for that to be safe. I can’t wait until it’s safe to be openly myself in all parts of my life!

Last year I came to terms with being trans. I began my transition in the first few weeks of Trump 2. As a Federal scientist being trans could get me fired, so I have to keep pretending to be a cis man in any realm that could touch my professional life for as long as I can pass in boy mode.

I almost accidentally sent my transphobic parents an email from an account that lists my name as Brigitte, rather than the name they gave me! Its so exhausting having to remember when and where I still have to pretend to be a straight, cis man, rather than simply getting to exist as who I am.

A fun comparison of the SAMBA (Cigna) 2025 and 2026 plan year anti-discrimination policies. Note that they both say that they comply with Federal antidiscrimination law, but the 2026 plan removes sexual orientation and gender identity from the protected classes. Federal law hasn't changed.

I hate internet companies. I recently switched providers to one that can offer faster speeds at a lower price. My existing provider won't allow me to cancel my account, despite there being no contract. The option to cancel on their website just brings up a pop up window telling you to call

The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email
