Giving up smoking?
Here's how I did it:
Most cigarettes are "habit" (you have them at set times or stuations), ~10% are "addiction" (you need the nicotine).
Start by cutting out "habit" cigs, 1 or 2 each day, over about 3wks.
So, dont smoke at every tea break, or when you get to the lights etc.

"Food inflation drops by 10%" should really be the headline in all papers today (but of course, they don't really want you to know).
Its not due to the seasonal goodwill of supermarkets as claimed though.
Its been high due to their *profiteering* all year

They are a totally parasitic curse on society, responsible for misery, poverty, suicide & domestic abuse.
We don't need them.

Scope are pointing out the number of employed disabled people fell by 349,000 between Q3 2024 & Q3 2025, with 52.3% of disabled people now employed vs 54.5%.
Unemployment among disabled is now 9.1% vs 6.7%.

So its a *good thing* Labour is giving them more help to work - right?
November 11, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Gloomy headline...but as usual, *its wrong*.

The truth:
- We have the largest number of people of working age ever.
- The number of those *in work* is almost the largest ever
- The percentage unemployed is among the lowest in 50yrs.

This is just part of Labour's £39bn vision to build the most social homes and affordable homes in more than generation.

✅ £7bn to deliver thousands of social homes across England

✅ Councils building at scale again

✅ £150m to transform brownfield sites

It beggars belief that Southern Water allowed a "Single Point of Failure" event such as this.
It tells us everything about how little they care about their responsibilities these days & how they cannot be cosidered guardians of the environment.

Budget context:
The historical UK tax burden (overall) hasn't really changed much since WW2, despite Tory hysteria about "Labour tax & spend" & assertions of their own "low tax policy". Its stayed 32-35% until Sunak.
Its just a matter of when you pay it, whether before salary or during purchases.

This is seen as failure, but if we could identify "all murders" or "all thieves" with a 54% success rate (ie detecting all the bad guys but with some overspill into people who could easily prove innocence), *it's a win*.
HMRC can add checks & improve it.

Another "Reeves told" story (which means "public made aware to put pressure on", as she already knows).
As always, its a *non-story*, because if Labour moves home insulation out of the Energy Bill "Green levy", they'll put it into the "Warm Homes" budget.

- They aren't *influencing* the Budget

It seems many (including Telegraph) are confused about what OBR gets told vs what ends up in the Budget.
The "Front Page scoop" about income tax is just something the Government have asked the OBR to look at it one of the 3 or4 packages of possible measures provided.
The Budget isn't finalised yet.
November 7, 2025 at 12:57 PM
Imagine if somneone at the Office of Budgetary Responsibilty *had* leaked sensitive Budget information to Steven Swinford at the Telegraph...
Does anyone think they'd keep their job?
Does anyone think the OBR would ever be allowed privileged access to assess impacts of *possible policies* again?
Ffs people, stop reporting speculative fact free articles which started in the Telegraph, Rachel Reeves is very unlikely to have told anyone in the media her budget plans. We had this before the last budget and none of the media forecasts came to owt. There must be some actual news to report.

Note to people concerned about "lost farmland":

Solar panels aren't flat on the ground. They are raised up a couple of metres from the ground at an angle.
72% of UK farmland is pasture.
Cattle love rubbing on the solar panel posts, & sheep like to shelter under them. Chickens love them too!

Before everyone seemed to accept we needed more solar farms.

As Labour have got on and approved more solar farms across the country and I share those stories and their wider green energy plans...
