Happy to have reached the age where I'm psyched to get some juicy pears as a Christmas gift.

Here in Delaware we have a statue of Thomas Garrett, a white man found guilty of obstructing the recapture of fugitives from slavery – ordered to pay damages to the point of ruin for it.

We don't, to my knowledge, have any statues celebrating the judges or jury members who found him guilty.

I’m so tired of postmortems on the 2024 election. The reason we lose is America is steeped in propaganda. Our news sources are overwhelmingly right wing. People vote based on lies. Dems have always had the right message but no echo chamber. Fix that and we can send the Nazis back to hell.

Fantastic, joyful anti-ICE protest at Trump Tower today. Fifth Avenue was shut down for Open Streets, so it was like a block party.

my favorite thing about the benoit blanc movies is that they aren't really about benoit blanc. he is not grappling with demons from his past. we are not getting flashbacks to the husband whose murder he never solved. he just shows up and does his job like mary poppins for homicides

Huge protest at Home Depot in Manhattan against their silence as day laborers who fuel their business are taken by ICE. Protesters bought and returned ice scrapers, clogging up the lines and eventually shutting down the store. @ndlon.bsky.social #iceoutofny

Anti-ICE protest underway at Manhattan Home Depot right now, everyone buying and returning ice scrapers and drawing attention to the store's silence on ICE raids kidnapping day laborers right in their aisles. #iceoutofny #stoptheraids #iceoutofhomedepot @maddow.bsky.social

Jurassic Park where the power went out in the movie theater during the first big T-rex scene.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

We will always be fighting this about 30% of humanity whose brains are wired with a psychological need for security that is unattainable in this world and who have not matured as adults. Authoritarians appeal to these folks.

I just love the new pedestrian plaza in my neighborhood. It's so refreshing to have a little oasis from cars, a place where people sit with friends for lunch, kids play, special community events are held, folks play dominoes, etc. Cities need more of this.
