The novelette “Donacon” by Paul E. Franz in this issue was superb. Looks at posthumanism and how it could quickly distort our view of each other.
Our September/October issue is on sale now! Pick up a copy for the latest stories from Jay Werkheiser, Larry Niven, Auston Habershaw, M.L. Clark, and more

I hate when whoever is in charge of the covers for a book series changes the cover theme midway through the series.

"Between Dragons and Their Wrath" by Devin Madson is absolutely fantastic. It's one of those fantasy novels with multiple viewpoints in which you can't wait to get back to every single one. I'm still thinking about it weeks after finishing. @devinmadson.bsky.social

“Where the figure of a successful person becomes especially prominent, the majority fall into idolizing success. They become blind to right and wrong, truth and lie, decency and malice. They see only the deed, the success.”- Dietrich Bonhoeffer, “Ethics.”

An instant classic World Series. Legitimately one of the greatest sets of games I’ve seen in any sport.

I cannot emphasize enough how much, as a fan of speculative fiction, you should read short stories. Get some speculative fiction magazines. Read them! So much good stuff. A lot of libraries have them available, too.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of UK artist Peter Knifton. I had some personal dealings with Peter few years ago when he kindly let me use his ‘space pyramid’ cover for one of my albums. He was a gentleman. Rest well Peter.

"A House of Dynamite" was fantastic, though I was a little let down by the ending. Strongly reminiscent of the excellent book "Nuclear War: A Scenario" by Annie Jacobson.

Finished the short story "Strays" by @scottwilliamcarter.com in the Sept/Oct issue of @asimovssfmag.bsky.social. The premise is a husband/wife team are traveling through space hunting down and disabling missiles drifting from a long ago war. It's a searing, emotional story. 10/10

Sometimes you just need to escape for a little while. Short stories are great for that.

TFW you bought an indie book because it looked hella cool years ago and you've waited so long to read it that it has now been picked up by a traditional publisher and now you feel extra dumb for not reading it yet and have to decide if you're going to read it now or not.

This is important! Markey is running for reelection against a “generational change” Democrat whose position on trans rights is cynical wishy-washiness. It matters that his response hasn’t been to “moderate his position.”
Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) at the Boston No Kings rally today, wore the trans pride flag like a scarf draped over his shoulders and included in his speech. "Because here in Massachusetts, we stand for what is right. We stand with trans people because trans rights are human rights."
