Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.
He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

Chicago ranks near the bottom in what we invest into our collections, even at current funding levels. Among the nine largest library systems serving populations of over 2M residents, CPL ranks second lowest in terms of spending per resident. This cut WILL put us at the bottom. 3/3

I cannot shout enough about how ridiculous it is to cut HALF the collections budget. Not okay.
People are not taking the proposal of significant cuts to Chicago Public Library quietly. This is DEEPLY unpopular, and it needs to be fixed in the budget.

M4L did have a number of school board candidates win. You can verify that information pretty easily.
They had *A LOT* of losses and their power isn't what it once was.
