I normally only share one new account a day (and I’ll share Taqwa again) but I am sharing her today too because of the severity of her situation. Her entire family (except for her sister @israsaid.bsky.social and her brother) including her six children were killed in a bombing. She is now pregnant.

School libraries don't need you to donate copies of banned books. They need you to step up and run for the school board so the books don't get banned in the first place.

I think it’s a balance. You need shitposters, celebrites, news, sports. None of the alternatives have the mix right at scale yet, but one could get close enough to kill twitter. Musk promotes the two things most people want the least: nazis and dummies who want to force you to pay attention to them

I’m here for camaraderie about the above, pictures of your food and pets, and general madcap hilarity. But, most importantly (probably), some shared community in this chaotic world.

Hi, I’m John. I’m an Associate Professor of social work at Lewis University, where I study complex, adaptive, human-built systems (focusing on foster care). I live in Chicago; enjoy baseball (Cubs), soccer (USNT & Fulham), (unironically) superhero movies, tending my small garden, and food and drink.
