Great piece from the stellar @oriion.bsky.social

Del Orden's transition & detransition "has brought out the people in her life who love her regardless of her gender expression, presentation or identity. ... The whole experience set her free from others’ expectations."

Her gender transition set her free. So did her detransition.
The joy that Adriana Del Orden feels in her body could have only come through transitioning. She’s tired of being told that she ruined her life.

We dig in with @caseycrownhart.bsky.social @jamesmodonnell.bsky.social, who did an amazing project at @technologyreview.com on energy

Big menopause news! The FDA says it will get rid of "black box" warnings for hormone-replacement therapy for menopause.

So — is this good science?? Well, the risks of hormones have definitely been overstated, but there is a bit of nuance here.

OHHH SEEING THE NON RAT RAT HOLE IS A VERY GOOD IDEA
🧪Did I really have time for this story? No, I did not, for reasons I'll be sharing soon. Did I absolutely feel compelled to write it anyways? You know I did! A viral mystery solved by science. Read on @sciencenews.bsky.social

Also, I have a new to-do for my trip to Chicago for #SciWri25 next month!
The viral Chicago ‘Rat Hole’ almost certainly wasn't made by a rat
Researchers used methods from paleontology to analyze the quirky local landmark, created when a rodent of a certain size fell into wet concrete.

The great saturated fat debate has been in the news lately, with some folks saying that butter is better than so-called "seed oils" like canola. We dug into the science — and where this idea came from 👇
Today we're sharing our episode on SEED OILS. There's a big debate over whether things like canola oil are healthier for us than saturated fats like butter — with folks including RFK Jr. telling us seed oils are dangerous.

What does the science say?? 🧪
