If that’s real, I don’t know anything about it. I think it’s more likely for Venezuelan oil than an attempt to create buffer zones to launch operations in other countries.

The US has plenty of jump-off points to wage war without needing to do that.

There’s really not a blanket way to answer this question, because it would really depend on what the context was.

It likely wouldn’t be without drama for the member in question, either.

It’s drilled into our troops to not follow illegal orders, but actually disobeying an order is more complicated.

I’m hoping now that the list has been exposed as a Russian wishlist, they’ll have an avenue to do that, yes.

The administration is scrambling trying to figure out how to respond. Now they’re saying it was decidedly on bilaterally, but it was written up by the Russians. Ridiculous.

How embarrassing.

Administration sources were all-in on this Russian wishlist until it was revealed that it was an *actual* Russian wishlist and not just the worst possible peace plan for Ukraine.

Time to call out the Russian agent (Johnson) for the failed House speaker he is. Vote him out of speakership!

Reminder: Johnson is largely ONLY in Congress due to Russian oligarch funding, which the GOP investigated and then ignored to keep their GOP lead in the House.
Mike Johnson's campaign contributions from company tied to Russia
The Louisiana Republican's team previously said it returned all the money it received from a company predominantly owned by Russian nationals in 2018.

Well, their fake Capitol Police pipe bomber story failed bigly, so they’re looking for the next ‘OMG LOOK OVER THERE!!!’ BS as we speak.

It probably ends (at minimum) with war in Venezuela. He still wants to use the Insurrection Act, too, but he’s being urged not to try that for now.

A fuck ton.

People always ask me what they should pay attention to that they probably aren’t already, and China/Taiwan is normally my answer.

China is really leaning into their ‘grey zone’ strategy and they’re putting a lot of pressure on Taiwan. They’re really hoping to provoke a response.

Has anyone reminded you of when Karmel Allison (an invited guest; girl in bright red) nearly fainted during an Obama speech on the Affordable Care Act (ACA; Obamacare) in the White House Rose Garden on October 21, 2013.

Should a president care & act this way?

Fun story: Stanley, despite expressing support for our movement, has left me on read the last few months as the US as descended into fascism. I’ve explicitly asked about tactics to build power in this moment.

I have receipts. I respect him and appreciate his work. And also…*deadpan to camera*
Jason Stanley isn’t afraid to use the F-word when talking about President Donald Trump.

The author of How Fascism Works and Erasing History: How Fascists Rewrite the Past to Control the Future is clear: He believes the US is currently under an authoritarian regime led by a fascist leader.
I study fascism. I’ve already fled America.
On this week’s “More To The Story,” former Yale philosophy professor Jason Stanley explains his recent move to Canada and calls the Trump administration’s takeover of the US government a “coup.”

This is a good point. (No snark.) I'm sure this SCOTUS sneers at Trump in private, but the conservative majority is trying to bank power for a better version of a right-winger.
They don’t want Trump to have as much power as possible. They want some future Federalist Society/Opus Dei-approved President to have as much power as possible. They’re willing to hold their nose and give it to Trump as a means to that end.
