Not remotely hot, but still true, take: We'd get a much more faithful reflection of what voters wanted in election results if we could express all of our misgivings about _candidates_ in the primaries, and make general elections about what kind of country we want to live in.

The only culture group I know of that would scoff at calling an older female relative an "Aunt" are the kind of WASPs that say e.g. "we're the Wythecliffes. Of the Grosse Point Wythecliffes."
It's funny to me that this has basically led to a search for "is there a culture group that does not do this?" and so far the answer seems genuinely to be "no".

18. Weirdly, the two places I've never been are the Ancestral homes of 1/4 of my family -- my maternal Grandfather grew up in Los Angeles, and his parents were from New Orleans (F) and San Antonio (M)--my great grandmother was born in Mexico, but grew up in SA.
