Theaters used to do this up until the 2000s! You would see theaters bring back older movies for a run. It was usually because they were much cheaper to get the rights to.
I’m happy the LOTR films are selling out everywhere. I hope new eyes are watching. I’ve seen them so many times now in the theater I’d rather just watch them at home. But theater audiences are hungry for quality movies, and studios ain’t providing. They should be playing older movies every weekend.
