I don't need a great job or a ton of money. I don't need the adventures I used to go on. I don't need to go back to being young or skinny, as if I ever could. I don't even need to be healthy. It might never happen.

I just need people. Check on your friends. More than anything, we need people.

Thing is, my brother had to take me to a medical procedure out of town.

And lounging in our respective hotel beds, watching a funny anime, & revealing secrets about who we hooked up with back in hs, I'm reminded that all I need to stay alive is this. This is a good reason to stay alive.

I'll be brutally honest. Highly invasive, specific thoughts of killing myself have plagued me in 2025. Daily, nightly, never ceasing & soul crushing, I slog through them. I go to therapy, I journal, but I'm alone so much, and my brain lies to me when it's quiet.

It's always quiet.

This is an actual miracle made possible by science. Thank you to the scientists, and especially to the incredible gay men who put their lives on the line for decades to test preventative measures, treatments, and possible cures.

Jeff Bezos is worth $230 billion and is reportedly spending $20 million on a three-day wedding in Venice while sailing around on his $500 million yacht. If he can afford to do that, he can afford a wealth tax and to pay Amazon workers a living wage. Hello?

I had SO much fun talking with Alyssa about how I am translating a hyper-online platform to a successful grassroots campaign and the best ways to use the right’s words against itself.

The thing about the Khalil case is that it's very very good that he's free now but you can't have it take three months between "the government kidnaps you off the street for no basis reason whatsoever" and "a judge makes them let you go." You just can't.

The pleasure of writing something you’re proud of only comes from the struggle of having to write a lot of things you aren’t particularly proud of. And some days you’ll feel so good while you’re writing, and other days you’ll feel horrible. That’s writing AND being a human.

As someone who has wanted to be a writer from the earliest point I can remember, I resent the act of writing a lot. Because it’s extremely fucking hard and time-consuming and painful and oftentimes thankless. But that’s what you sign up for when you decide to write. There are no shortcuts.

Listen. The only way you can become a good writer is by being a shitty writer and doing it anyways. You can’t magically become a good writer by having a machine do some of the work for you. That just makes you a fraud.

Just today, I’ve talked to two teenage boys and five different parents who all said the same thing: Young men are TERRIFIED right now.

You want their vote? Be the one to stand up for their lives because God knows warmongers won’t.

If Democrats truly want to appeal to young men, they should probably start presenting themselves as the party that definitively *won’t* draft you into an illegal war.

White people need to devote more time to shaming each other. Remind your sister that her political choices produce tangible harm, making her a bad person. Happy Juneteenth! Today commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. It’s a day to celebrate Black strength, resiliency, and joy.

But as Trump tries to reverse progress, we all need to recognize how his cruelty disproportionately impacts Black Americans. 1/

Let’s talk a little bit about what you can do to avoid this wave. It’s looking like a huge one, and even ignoring the risk of death or permanent disability from long covid, do you really want to lose two or three sunny weeks to feeling like crap?

Here’s some common sense risk reduction ideas:
