I don't need a great job or a ton of money. I don't need the adventures I used to go on. I don't need to go back to being young or skinny, as if I ever could. I don't even need to be healthy. It might never happen.

I just need people. Check on your friends. More than anything, we need people.

Thing is, my brother had to take me to a medical procedure out of town.

And lounging in our respective hotel beds, watching a funny anime, & revealing secrets about who we hooked up with back in hs, I'm reminded that all I need to stay alive is this. This is a good reason to stay alive.

The pleasure of writing something you’re proud of only comes from the struggle of having to write a lot of things you aren’t particularly proud of. And some days you’ll feel so good while you’re writing, and other days you’ll feel horrible. That’s writing AND being a human.

As someone who has wanted to be a writer from the earliest point I can remember, I resent the act of writing a lot. Because it’s extremely fucking hard and time-consuming and painful and oftentimes thankless. But that’s what you sign up for when you decide to write. There are no shortcuts.
