both of these are, needless to say, extremely bad and socially corrosive, and probably not something we should just be putting out there with a dismissive "it won't go away, so you can't just be absolutely oppositional to this"—i'm not sure we're all on the same page of what is being done here

the second of these is that a huge % of AI boosters are basically milennarians who have internalized the logic of Roko's basilisk and that they have a mandate from a Calvinist god they have created to bring about the most absolute version of AI possible or they will suffer eternal damnation

the problem every person saying "AI won't go away" has is that they don't seem to grapple with the two primary reasons companies are making a full-court press on AI. the first of these is an effort to deskill and automate huge swathes of the economy so they can further cut labor and personnel costs

Looks like #pinksea is still a little rough around the edges, but I am absolutely loving what I'm seeing so far. I only lost one comment drawing so far - I was unable to submit it and had to give up and save it locally!
