The Streets I’ve walked in Seattle as of June 7th 2025.

I’m here to present my 6-month update. (Sort of, I took 3 months off due to a skin health thing, and it was way too cold for long, long walks. So this is more of a 3-month progress update from after I started again in March,
I feel safer to share about this now after his loss. Bruce Harrell is Racist. His treatment toward the Hispanic member’s of our community has been disgusting and has sent SPD after them time and time again. We have real issues in this city and he thinks going after food trucks is a good use of money
Taco Stand on Northgate was back open tonight. As I went we watch SPD go around in circles and turns on their sirens a few times. What is this? This seems very strange if they’re doing something wrong then talk to them. This felt like intimidation

So this one is super personal to me. I live near here and my partner is Mexican and this is often the closest thing authentic around here as you can get. I would go here with her twice a week. It’s affordable and they are kind people. I’ve been here likely 100+ times. Never saw any health issues.
SPD out here on Northgate shutting down the taco stand between 8th and Roosevelt due to "multiple licensing and health code violations" that they wouldn't provide anymore info about.

Not that the joker known as Bruce Harrell cares but ether outcome he certainly won’t have a mandate on anything. He’s just barely going to win this if he does.
In the latest tally, Katie Wilson has gained vote share in the Seattle mayoral race. Today's batch broke 54.85% for Wilson and 44.86% for Bruce Harrell. Harrell still leads with 50.74% of the vote while Wilson still trails with 48.86% of the vote.
🚨 In the latest tally, Katie Wilson has gained vote share in the Seattle mayoral race. Today's batch broke 51.63% for Wilson and 48.11% for Bruce Harrell. Harrell still leads with 52.64% of the vote while Wilson still trails with 46.93% of the vote.

I question why anyone would bother subscribing to them. Their opinions and positions on everything related to the city always link back to benefiting the upper elite in society.

Very few projects are currently under construction here in Seattle. In terms of Apartments, I'm aware of 3 in Northgate, 1 in Roosevelt, 3 in SLU, 2 in Othello, 2 in Yesler, 1 in Woodland, and 1 along Madison st There may be others, but those are all I'm aware of.
not just PDX

tariffs, high interest rates, dwindling labor pool and increasing insurance are killing projects across the country.

we're about to see even higher tariffs on canadian lumber, cabinets, appliances.

going to see massive rent increases due to this

Portland Apartment Construction Plummets 54%
Growing material and labor costs and high interest rates are dramatically slowing the new multifamily projects.

I’ll say in response to this what I posted on Reddit

What a ridiculous statement. Experience isn’t what stops Trump. Look at many of the Dems, like Chuck Schumer, who has decades of experience but gets walked all over.

I’m kind of over the experience argument.
Bruce Harrell makes his closing statement for why he should keep his job after his poor performance as Seattle Mayor and this line says it all.

"This is not the time to hope."

1. Hollingsworth is less YIMBY then some think. She is trying to shrink the Cap Hill up zone which I still think is lacking enough attention.
2. I’ll stand by idk what urbanists thought Nelson was ever on our side.
3. Rivera and Kettle are just bad. Saka of course.
4. Juarez = W Rinck = Massive W
Is your Seattle City Councilmember a YIMBY or a NIMBY? Use this chart compiled from the September 12 hearing on the Comprehensive Plan to find out.

Thanks to our members Matthew C. and Aidan T. for compiling the data & chart!

I has planned on Donating to Katie Wilson but this was what finally got me to go to her website and do it. Thanks Pete.

I’m not sure how more noise isn’t being made about this. If this chunk is removed it’s a massive loss of growth potential and room to connect two urban areas far more. It’s a far bigger loss than the small chunks cut out of the neighborhood centers.
Heads-up: At tomorrow's Seattle comp plan committee meeting, chair Joy Hollingsworth is walking on an amendment to restore the low-density "donut hole" between Capitol Hill and the Central District, reversing a plan to allow more housing in this part of Seattle's core

I always appreciate @ericacbarnett.bsky.social to actually state the reality. That is real journalism.
OPCD did extensive outreach across the city, holding meetings and doing neighborhood walks and doing virtual town halls and taking THOUSANDS of comments from people across the city, but some people didn't like the outcome. That's what happened.
September 18, 2025 at 5:55 PM
This is just a joke, and it damages my view of Hollingsworth in this process. This part of the comp plan should have been the easiest change and win. It's close to Capitol Hill and Urban zones, so it's not drastically changing the area. The area isn't super high or low-income, so I'm not sure who

I hope someone makes this point Friday and calls them out. I plan on going so I may but it’s also important we push back against some of the flawed or hypocritical talking points of these groups.
I have tried to persuade Tree Action folks to support eliminating parking minimums but they refuse to make the connection that unlimited parking is bad for trees.
It undermines their core argument about the dire tree canopy crisis when they are silent about paving acres and acres of private land

Wonderful Job Ryan. This is just embarrassing for Bruce Harrell the guy has done nothing for transit but the bare minimum.
This morning Bruce Harrell held a press conference on the 2nd anniversary of the "Downtown Activation Plan."

I showed up to ask him if he had in fact "led on transit" as he promised four years ago. King County Metro's on-time performance is at record lows, & SDOT is taking bus lanes off the table.
Made it onto the list of Downtown Activation Projects: "AI House"

Didn't make it onto the list: RapidRide G (open) or RapidRide J (under construction)

Monorail upgrades also got bumped since the last update.

Alright Apartment Construction Update! This one is on 803 S WASHINGTON ST. Yesler Terrace area. Apartments are two building one 21-Story the other 23-Story 365 Units with Retail. Parking for 248. Pics taken Sep 8th 2025. Projects looking pretty far in progress getting down to the final stretch
September 9, 2025 at 4:37 AM
It really is a crime next to our Water Front and major tourist area we have a Public Storage Building. It’s an eye sore and waste.
September 6, 2025 at 12:52 AM
Alright rant. The Pike Place Pedestrian experiment trial I so far haven’t seen happening fully. Here’s what I mean. I normally can’t go around 2-3pm. I notice every time I do cars are still driving down the road and it’s not venders it’s clearly lost tourists or locals. Markets open till 6.
August 31, 2025 at 7:11 PM
Alright we have two building Construction updates for everyone today. Both in Seattle SLU area both right next to each other. The first is in pretty early stages of construction on 2405 7TH AVE
44-Story, 442 Units, Parking 260, Don’t quote me but I think construction started maybe 3 months ago.

Progress so far on the Shoreline 148th non motor Pedestrian Bridge. This bridge will be connected to the South Shoreline Station in a semi similar way the Northgate Bridge is. For more about the project link below. Looks like completion is on track for 2026

I kind of hope Mayor Bruce just says and does this with with the Mayoral Election as well. He’s “Sort of gave up” with everything else why stop now?

Vote @wilsonkatieb.bsky.social @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social
I feel like “Sort of gave up” could be Mayor Harrells slogan at this point when it comes to any policy positive for your average person.
I like how Mayor Harrell wanted to provide examples of his work on affordable housing in his latest newsletter but just sort of gave up.

Okay folks. So we have been talking about putting Speed bumps on Lake W Blvd S. Just to make clear I aggressively support this. But these things? (Sorry it’s dark) Don’t work great and need to be higher or far more effective. These in the picture are in 5th Ave NE.

I've criticized Saka quite a bit. I'm not a fan of him at all. However, he's low-hanging fruit and isn’t up for election this year. People should be focusing more on Nelson, as she is actively causing harm to this city and doesn’t get called out nearly as much. She's vindictive toward progressives
Sara Nelson really left Mark Solomon to chair a housing committee meeting on his own, where he's essentially asking the Mayor's Office how to advance legislation.

This is wild.
