The kind of nerd that teaches themselves computational geometry for fun. Into ttrpgs, gaming, sci-fi and fantasy, crafty stuff, and so, so many ADHD "enhanced" hobbies. He/him, they/them is fine too.

Hello, I'm Blaine.

I'm mostly on here for (indie)game dev stuff and ttrpg stuff, but I've got the ADHD so I'm also interested in basically every art or crafting hobby ever, and a million other things besides.

The fact that it’s the “politics of AI infrastructure” and not

“Rising costs of living and health issues”

Is one of the big keys

People are tired of being seen as secondary to inanimate objects
"The Democratic sweep of gubernatorial races in Virginia and New Jersey and public service commissioner races in Georgia offers an early glimpse of what could be a sleeper issue in the 2026 midterm elections: the politics of AI infrastructure."
The under-the-radar factor that helped Democrats win in Virginia, New Jersey, and Georgia  | Fortune
As the AI land rush accelerates, local fights over water, power, and land may shape who wins and loses in American politics.

The average US taxpayer spends $36 a year on SNAP

You know what they spend on corporate subsidies? $670

Poor and disabled people who need food are not the problem

If you’re angry about “your money” feeding people but not angry it’s giving tax cuts to the wealthy?

You’re doing their dirty work.

Just figured out the basics of procedural mesh generation in godot and the urge to procedurally generate all the things now is intoxicating.

Just a regular reminder:
open table means open table.

I've had people not able to make it

I've had people leave mid session.

I've gone on "bio break" and had people not come back.

I've called sessions off because I wasn't feeling up to running them.

All of that is fine and welcome.

Honestly, at this point the main thing stopping me from moving my home computing to Linux is I have all the ADHD and executive function is not part of my subscription package.

LRT: If y'all have any clothes/textiles folding knowledge, resources, hacks, tips etc, please feel free to send them to me. I'm so bad at it and I hate doing it, lol.

I know that I should probably just be making small games and such to develop my skills and release things at the same time.

My brain just doesn't do that.

It refuses.

So instead I seem to have entered a cycle of starting projects I'll never finish and abandoning them in series.

They are also intentionally conflating machine-learning and generative AI slop to confuse and try to make GenAI seem necessary. Google Maps traffic stuff is machine learning, not GenAI, for example. Auto-correct is too. Don't let them make you lose the thread. GenAI slop is slop.
the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever

*opens game*

*You prob want a controller notification*

*Play thru prologue. Conclude I want a controller. Switch to controller. Don't quite love the bindings, go to options to remap.*

*Can't remap controller bindings, only keyboard bindings.*

Me:
*gets home, relaxes on the couch for an hour to recover from sitting upright at work all day. One of my cats comes and jumps on my lap.*

*Migrates to my PC to play some games. The other cat immediately jumps on the desk and climbs into my lap*

Me, to cat: what, are you taking turns now?

As an art enjoyer who has paid for a few commissions sometimes:

DON’T SAY ANYTHING IN THE COMMENT THING WHEN YOU PAY THEM!

You don’t have to, it’s not required, just don’t do it.

Payment Platforms are being EXTREMELY shitty, don’t get an artists account banned, just shut up.
Paypal is now playing harder ball on artists, going after anyone even mentioning commissions.

Artists, send invoices. That way, no one has to say what the money is for on Paypal's paper trail.

Customers, SAY NOTHING about commissions. Just say "thanks" on donos.

Everyone: INCREASE THE CALLS.

Anyway, the tl;dr to take away from all this is a thing I have been repeating for ages, which is that extremism symbols function on a plausible-deniability basis. People who use them 100% rely on normal people going "I had no idea, so maybe he didn't either."

Free game idea:
A factory/automation game, but it's tied to a mech war game. Build up the factories and go down the tech tree to make and support your own custom fancy mech design to fight in the space war.

There is a parallel in country songs to the master disciple relationship in xianxia but it is inherently entangled with vice. See Kenny Rogers' The Gambler and Bill Currington's people are crazy. In this essay I will 🧵

Random thought:
We do a lot of abstraction of reality and imagination in ttrpgs, but we don't do as much abstraction of ttrpgs and their components themselves, in general.
October 15, 2025 at 11:35 PM
Creature ranching game that's also a factory game but it treats the creatures with respect so you have to balance taking care of the critters with building your factory or your zap rabbits won't charge your batteries and the flood frog will shut off your plumbing.

Look, I'm not saying it's a good playbook, but I think there's something there.

I think the crux of it is the isekai express got isekaied?
i was supposed to get hit by a truck and sent to an rpg world. but the isekai truck got hit by another isekai truck on its way to me. now that isekai truck is a magical draft cart with a harem of elves and goblins & i'm out here with my pud in my hands having zero fantastical bitches like a jerk

Honestly does not compute for me at all. Who the fuck did they interview, sports gamers? Probably COD gamers tbh.

I buy at least two games a month, easy. They're just not triple A or probably even double A games so I guess the media doesn't notice/care.
