Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.

Just fuck you. Fuck you all.

I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

I don't agree with all the qualities attributed to LLMs in this manifesto but it still provides useful guidelines on how to use them responsibly.
I have put together a (long overdue!) draft RFD on using LLMs at @oxide.computer, but I know that there is a ton more to be said on the topic; thoughts and experiences welcome!

The #Bluesky Android app keeps logging me out every single day, sometimes twice a day.
Looks like their session tokens are short-lived and never renewed, which feels very amateurish.

I noticed the same pattern: people with the most expertise use AI tools less because they are not blind to the poor quality of their output and at the end of the line they can't get away with producing bullshit.
AKA the Dunning-Kruger effect
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

This is why we can't have nice things: streaming service companies cancelling their best shows after two seasons, like Poker Face at the peak of its success.
Also Natasha Lyonne is half of the show's interest, why would Rian Johnson even consider replacing her?

Poker Face has been cancelled by Peacock after just two seasons, though the director has said he will now attempt to save the show by shopping it to another streamer — with a completely different actor in the leading role. https://bit.ly/49eRXK2
