@jodyallair.bsky.social and I just returned from leading one of our most memorable pelagic boat trips ever for Eagle-Eye Tours, out of Tofino, BC. The Laysan Albatross stole the show and hung around so long that we literally had to tear ourselves away from it! #birds #pelagic #albatross #seabirds
Laysan Albatross floats on the water. It is a large mostly white seabird with a brown back, pink bill, and hazy dark eyeshadow. Cassin's Auklet strikes a pose on the water. This tiny grey bird has a uniquely shaped sharp bill and white check above the eye. A Pink-footed Shearwater takes off from the water after resting on a kelp bed. It is mostly grey and white with a pink bill. A Black-footed Albatross fly by. This large seabird is mostly grey-brown with a white vent, rump, and pale face.

Tomorrow is #OctoberBigDay! Not sure what you're up to, but there are currently thousands of shorebirds moving south through the #pacificnorthwest at the moment. These first cycle Western (L) and Semipalmated (R) sandpipers wanted to demonstrate how bill length can help tell them apart. #birds #birdphotography #migration

Meet the American Goldfinch!

These small songbirds are as fascinating as they are eye-catching. With strong feet and unusually short legs, they can balance with ease on the tips of flower heads while feeding on seeds, or gathering plant down to line their nests.
