Colorado is not for sale.

Federal efforts to sell off or privatize our national public lands risk our way of life. That’s not a future I’m willing to accept, and I bet you aren’t either.

🖊️ Tell Colorado’s leaders: defend our public lands.

I wrote a meta-story about the media coverage of Colossal's so-called dire wolves: thebulletin.org/2025/04/dire...

Honestly feel like I could have written 10,000 words on this but a little over 2,000 will have to do...
Dire wolf, or Colossal misrepresentation?
A biotechnology company called Colossal Biosciences claims to have resurrected the dire wolf, a species that went extinct over 10,000 years ago.

Everything Is Tuberculosis will have a SECOND WEEK as a #1 New York Times bestseller. Incredible. (Also, the audiobook is a NYT Bestseller!)

I am so, so grateful to everyone who has read and shared that little book.

Despite what certain people might tell you, ongoing cuts to federal support for science & medical research are not 'targeted' to 'elite' institutions. They are broad in scope, hit state universities, flagships, hospitals, and research institutes all across the U.S.

Working with an interdisciplinary team, we have developed a website to communicate how the White House's proposed cuts to health research would cause losses of $16B and 68,500 jobs.

My colleague just shared this paper with me. An interesting alternative explanation for COVID19 that does not involve wildlife. They used an AI to analyze changes in genome sequences. Fascinating really. What do you all think of this? 🦇🌎🧪🦊 #NotBats #NotPangolins

AI Uncovers Hidden Genetic Clues That Challenge COVID-19’s Origins
A surprising new study suggests that COVID-19 may not have originated from bats or pangolins, but rather from a rare fusion of human diseases. Using an advanced AI-driven approach called max-logistic ...

Over on the other site Elon Musk said that DOGE stopped $50M of condoms from being delivered to Gaza which Trump the repeated several times but it turns out that was the number for all contraceptive support from USAID everywhere on Earth, of which none went to Palestinians.

I’m always looking for things that explain a lot but that people have a hard time remembering.

Examples: Air is stuff. Pee comes from blood. All land vertebrates have a single common ancestor. Venus is bright enough to cast visible shadows. Clouds are heavy. Bones are alive.

Any others you know?
