I hope you keep writing and researching and publishing, even if it’s about distant and abstruse topics. It’s not stupid, it’s beautiful, because it’s a testament to the curiosity and care they’re trying to eradicate.

It's on Museums and linked data, and about the role of digital collections for critical museology. The book is in German.

If you're a JHUP book author (past, present, or potential) this is of immediate interest to you, of course.

But JHUP also runs Project Muse – which none of the articles about this policy mention.

I would be v surprised if they aren't planning on sinking that into AI mud, too. (JSTOR already has).
It strikes me that this week brings us two examples of academic institutions trying to cut deals with fascist counterparties who will 1) not honor any contract or agreement and 2) actively seek to destroy the mission & the personnel of of the academic institutions w/ whom their dealing

Authors at the Johns Hopkins University Press will be able to opt out of the AI licensing agreement until the end of August; if they do not, their work will be used to train AI models.

KI als „illusion of thinking“, inklusive „complete accuracy collapse“.
Apple has gotten shit for not going all-in on AI but they published an interesting paper in response.

"Through extensive experimentation across diverse puzzles, we show that frontier LRMs face a complete accuracy collapse beyond certain complexities."

Steve Jobs was a bastard in many ways but did have an uncanny ability to get what people actually do and do not want from tech and I am very curious what he would have made of the AI moment we're in.

Mit linear (Text/Schrift) vs "at a glance" (Bilder) völlig einverstanden.
