Me: Aaaaah! Eeek Cold!

Husband: Use your words...

Me: ...

Husband: Use your words, hon.

Me: I can't, they're too wet!

Recovering from booster shots for this year's viruses while on break. While I'm doing so, let me be clear: Nazis are terrible, you can't be a Nazi and a good person (some evils outweigh most everything) and you should watch Judgment at Nuremberg (Kramer 1961) if you are unsure about this in any way.

a tiny bit of good news is that we have secured funding to digitize john milton's copy of holinshed's CHRONICLES (1587).

the images will form part of MILTON'S LIBRARY, an open-access site featuring the 10 books positively identified as milton's w/ transcriptions/translations of his marginal notes.

And I’m called up to work the November polls. It’s not a big election as these things go, but if the past decade taught us anything, it’s that every election counts.

I have hit the mid-semester slump, except that I've been sort of in that slump since week 2. My students are great, everything is fine on a personal level, but I think the constant background radiation of worry from the ongoing hellscape is burning me out. I am TIRED, and I want everyone to be okay.

I am unable to attend a No Kings rally on the 18th because I'm traveling to see my son, but if you can, it's super important to do so. That being said, if anywhere asks you to "register," that is highly suspect and should be avoided. You don't have to sign up anywhere to attend. Just go.

Vaccines are safe and effective.

Autism isn't caused by vaccines, and autistic people and their families deserve our support.

When you want information, ask your doctor.

It's more important than ever for all of us to speak plainly, truthfully, and directly about public health.

AI companies are spending billions on deals with each other, which boost their value.

This has helped twenty billionaires tied to AI add $450B to their fortunes in 2025.

Meanwhile, an MIT study found that 95% of companies using AI haven't seen returns on investment.

Be warned.

There's nothing like retrenching the last few lines of your knitting pattern when you realize that you are about to lose your game of yarn chicken, aka "I totally have enough to finish this, no problem -- oh shit, problem."

I am over pie recipes that need a thickener added suggesting that instead of using a reasonable ingredient for the purpose, you use an apple core for the pectin. Friends, I am not a tradwife, and I do not have an interest in "naturally sourced pectin." Get with the 21st century, people.
