Baltimore -- take note!
Baltimore, get ready! This one-of-a-kind reading brings together writers from Eastern Europe who now make their homes across the United States. We're coming together during #AWP26 to share our work in support of Ukraine.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

As just such a journalism professor, I invite Chris here to lay out his own pedagogical vision for the only private profession mentioned by name in the Constitution. If it’s “let the machine write for you” then I further invite him to resign and make room for real journalists
A conscientious journalism grad withdraw from a job when she learned the Cleveland Plain Dealer uses AI to write its stories.

Now the editor is castigating her and journalism professors for not being “prepared for the workforce.”

You can’t make this shit up.

I think we are going to have a Democratic-controlled Senate.

And all we will need for the leadership of that Democratic Senate to do is hold actual, real, impeachment trials.

As the Constitution requires.

Not the bullshit fake trials like the ones that the Senate held in 2020 and 2021...

Many people in South Africa, where Elon is from, died to create a genuinely multiracial polity. They were killed by people who thought like Elon.

The people who thought like Elon also lost. Seems their “common culture” of white supremacy wasn’t enough.

1/3 What Musk is really referring to here is, of course “race” - that construct that served to define the hierarchies of wealth & power structured by modern colonialism. Like other far right racists though, he uses the word “culture” as a seemingly less pernicious synonym.

This is what ICE does every day. Hunt little kids who are here legally. They get sent to a place called the “baby jail” in Texas. Very little of it ends up on video like this. But it’s routine. And disgusting.

We'll be working and in the bookstore until 3(?) and watching hockey probably. Swing on by if you are looking to get out of the house. Remember to support indie bookstores, you know the ones NOT trying to build surveillance networks....

Just as ICE and CBP have no legitimate role in "election security" neither does the head of DHS. The mere existence of this press conference should be a scandal, much less this tone-deaf comment.
Kristi Noem: "When it gets to Election Day, we've been proactive to make sure we have the right people voting, electing the right leaders to lead this country."

Wow - turns out that Bad Bunny worked with @uwmadison.bsky.social Prof. Meléndez-Badillo @jmelendezbadillo.bsky.social on aspects of Puerto Rican history for his show!
Not at all surprised to learn that Bad Bunny has a historical adviser. His halftime show was a reminder that our history and culture are deeply intertwined with the rest of the western hemisphere. We should think of his performance as part of #America250. #SuperBowl
