In my new role at work my desk is by a tv with CNBC, and it’s astounding how much of the day Jim Cramer is on television during the day. Just non-stop.

An interesting dynamic on the Unlimited PTO trend was that you ran into issues with the extreme use cases on both ends. Hard to combat without undermining the very nature of the concept.

President Trump’s on-and-off tariffs have created deep uncertainty about the cost of imported goods. We looked at the items the U.S. relies on most from 140 trading partners (not including large quantities, such as petroleum.) Here's the full list. nyti.ms/4jzv31o

If we consider near universal suffrage a condition for legitimate democracy, then democracy itself isn’t very old at all. Oldest women’s suffrage was only early 20th century.

They always ask people who served in the military to stand during Memorial Day events but they rarely specify for which country they fought. I feel like that’s important.

Everyone has one Mitch Hedberg joke stashed in their brain like a squirrel to sustain them whenever they need to feel joy for 30 seconds and mine is “they say the recipe for Sprite is Lemon and Lime but I tried to make it at home, there’s more to it than that”

An interesting wrinkle about the current immigration moment is that groups once venerated by conservatives (people fleeing socialism, persecuted Christians) are now the groups most targeted for deportation.
Rep. Yassamin Ansari, an Arizona Democrat, is introducing a bill named for Artemis Ghasemzadeh, an Iranian Christian convert who was deported by the Trump administration. The bill seeks to stop the expedited removal of people fleeing countries that persecute religious minorities.

One unifying thing about the people celebrating job loss to AI is that they really do believe they’ll be the last ones left with employment.
AGI is coming for all of us. It will write symphonies, direct movies, and author the best novels.

The only thing it won’t be able to do is VC investing, which must be reserved as a task only for the most-special people

Drove through Atoka just a few hours earlier…
The tornado-warned supercell just west of Atoka, OK at around 3:20 p.m. this afternoon. Not to shabby for a day I wasn't planning on chasing...but in what felt like the blink of an eye, there were like 10 tornado warnings all around us without a tornado watch even being issued lol #okwx
