At the same time the NY Times was hyping Hillary Clinton's emails, it had a reporter with emails from Jeffrey Epstein that were highly damaging to Trump.

The more NYT apologists try to minimize this the clearer it becomes that they don't understand why much of the public doesn't trust legacy media.

The essential item here is the TV crew.

We need to understand that the administration's policy is driven by an optimization function that weights aesthetics over everything.

To be powerful is to be seen being powerful.
A Black Hawk helicopter. SWAT teams repelling to the roof. 300 agents. Flash-bang grenades. A TV crew.

“It’s 20,000 of them running through my house like we got Saddam Hussein in the closet."

For all that, fed prosecutors filed no criminal charges against anyone who was arrested.

Stunning report.

Government should do things.

"Things" includes actually taking white collar crime and sexual predation seriously.
something I've been thinking about if/when we retake power is we're really going to need to shock & awe the elites with accountability. hit em hard and fast. gotta break the entire system and don't give it time to regroup.
Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

Not only was the Kendzior ban the wrong move, but the punishment is so late that nothing @safety.bsky.app does can really be seen to block abuse.

If someone were brigaded off this site, it would take more than a month to start dealing with them. Ineffective and useless.

Bad policy design. Federal pensions I believe base payments on your five highest years of pay. NYC has set up the worst incentives it can to stop runaway police budgets.
NYC cops retire after 20 yrs at 50% salary. Pension am't calculated on final yr.

Say a boss makes $150k with lots of OT at protests, he makes $230k. Retire now? Pension = $115k.

2026, under ZM, OT goes away, income = $170k. Retire next year? Pension = $85k.

He must retire after highest year. Now.
"Hundreds of New York City police officers are ready to leave the force in the wake of Zohran Mamdani’s (D.) election victory, with some openly weeping after the cop-hating socialist seized the city’s mayoralty earlier this month"

The idea that sexual abuse is part of “private” life instead of a public crisis has done incalculable damage. Anti-rape activists have to fight to even make it possible to expose sexual abuse as a wrongdoing in public without being silenced and undermined. That fight is far from won

as much as anything, Andrew Cuomo's campaign represents the bipartisan consensus at the top that consequences and standards are for other, lesser, working class plebes. destined to suffer what they must for the outcomes others merely would prefer. But No Kings should mean No Nobles either.

The US invaded a country on pretenses now widely acknowledged to be basically fraudulent, not to talk of the many coups of the 20th century. this fact barely merits an "oops" from the many actors, elected and otherwise, who promoted it, most of whom are watercoloring into the sunset to this day

Once again I must ask, how much use of military force makes for no ceasefire, rather than a “strained” or “tested” ceasefire?
Israel has destroyed more than 1,500 buildings in Gaza since ceasefire
Entire neighbourhoods controlled by Israel have been levelled in less than a month, the images show.

This sounds reasonable but is 100% wrong. Whether you or agree or disagree with a study is completely immaterial. What matters is whether the study was conducted properly and generates valid results. And it's impolitic to say but it's true: you have to have some level of expertise to judge that.
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."

Well, it turns out ridehail has no discernible impact on car ownership at all.

Neutrality and objectivity are not the same thing and are, in fact, often contradictory goals. The objective truth is often not neutral in its political implications, and it would be a useless exercise if it was.
Got turned down on a piece about ICE in Chicago for an international news org because they believed I couldn’t be objective about my neighbors getting kidnapped. And well, guilty as charged I guess.

America suffers daily for the sins of racism. It is essential to continue to bang the drum and show how MAGA and other segregation revival ideologies will harm generations into the future to sway our neighbors into rejecting their own destruction as part of this hate.
👋 I'm Danielle, and I'm on the #econjobmarket this year!

Let's start with a student describing her segregated school:

"The school felt temporary. Built like a warehouse with aluminum siding . . . I had a slipshod education"

The twist? The student is white, and her school is private.
