Ok not sure anyone will see this but might as well introduce myself.

I’m a BigLaw securities and corporate governance litigator and trial lawyer in Baltimore with two kids and an awesome wife.

In a former life, I was an opera singer and composer, and part-time rock star. Also fairly witchy. Hi!

Is this in question? The entire existence of ICE can be attributed to Cheney’s influence over GWB after 9/11 that led to the creation of DHS.
Moderates can try and launder Dick Cheney all they want, but he was a murderous war criminal who laid the tracks for Trump and overt fascism.

We live in Cheney’s America, god help us, and it’s on us to dishonor him by undoing the damage he caused.

Never pass up a history lesson from Derek Guy. When Republicans talk about bringing back coal jobs, they want to benefit the bosses, not the workers.
JD Vance claims that diversity weakens unions, as people end up distrusting each other and not organizing.

Let me tell you two menswear stories related to this claim. 🧵

I'm having flashbacks to 2002, when many of us were saying "Homeland Security? I'm not sure that's a great idea..."
Yes, this is a real post made by the Department of Homeland Security.

None of this is normal.

What five pieces of media (books, TV, movies, music, etc.) were most responsible for forming your personality? Not your favorites per se, but the ones that most influenced who you are now. (I know @deaconblues1979.bsky.social will have a good answer to this one.)

Is @merkley.senate.gov doing what @booker.senate.gov did and we’re only paying a small amount of attention?????

Also, Merkley has been training for something for the past three months and he said it was a race to save the Senate but now I’m wondering if it was for this

@ariellaelm.bsky.social is doing amazing work cataloging Democratic efforts to fight what is going on. So before you say Democrats aren’t doing anything/enough, read this whole thread and then follow her.
Yeah, I did watch it. For starters you didn’t acknowledge that Wall Street Journal wrote an article about how successful Schumer is with blocking Trump’s judicial nominees.

The party of “merit” has confirmed someone whose only prior experience is being a local county judge and district attorney and who hasn’t practiced in a courtroom in 20 years. My only consolation is that she will hate having to work for a living for a fraction of what she made at Fox.
The former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, whose false statements about the 2020 election were part of a lawsuit against the network, was confirmed as the U.S. attorney for Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

And yet they complain that the Postal Service and the NIH don’t turn a profit.
Just in: Trump Media reported a $20 million loss on $883,000 in sales for quarter ending June 30.

Aside from the fact that this is infuriating because Vought doesn’t know a damn thing about what NIH does, but also I just discovered that Vought is *younger* than me. Evil really ages you.
TAPPER: 14 Republicans say you're risking undermining critical research by holding up NIH funding

VOUGHT: If they were a company, their stock price would in shambles. They in some respects caused the pandemic. You have an entire institute that does nothing more than DEI research at the NIH.

This really stupid thing is that Garrett and Allegheny County, where the floods were, is Trump Country. Gov. Moore should go out there and explain exactly what their hero thinks of them.

When I was in middle school, I created a text-based baseball computer game in BASIC (yes I was a nerd). But there was something wrong with the programming that I could never solve - the game would cycle through like 9 strikes before it ever called a batter out.

This is what AI reminds me of.
Reporter: The FDA has a new AI tool that's intended to speed up drug approvals. But several FDA employees say the new AI helper is making up studies that do not exist. One FDA employee telling us, 'Anything that you don't have time to double check is unreliable. It hallucinates confidently'

I received an answering machine from Ray Bradbury. In the late 90s, I wrote him a letter seeking the rights to compose an opera of Fahrenheit 451. Rather than write back, he called me personally and politely turned me down over the phone. I saved that message for years.
