Maps like this suck. They imply climate change will flood vast swathes of the country very soon. Climate change will (and does) cause more flooding, but flooding is not about whether land is below high tide...

Every share helps. No donations anymore. So Palestinians face death alone.

No NGOs. No foreign governments breaking the blockade. And no donors.

This is what we’ve left them to?

What do I tell our friends and their six families?

The Telegraph is objectively a rag owned by fascist rich people and it's job is to push their agenda.

The fact the BBC couldn't withstand criticism from this obviously bad faith actor kind of shows we won't be missing much if it does die.
It takes an obscene amount of hubris to lecture the BBC when you have The Telegraph’s record on truth-telling.

Some of the paper’s errors this year are so bad they’re almost laughable 👇🏻

We might ask why, when it was very obvious a tiny clique of poisonous, truthless psychos had seized control via bullshit, shenanigans and stitch-ups, the entire British press spent five years loudly squealing that this was an insane conspiracy theory believed only by dangerously crazed people.

Solidarity with @transliberationgroup.org.uk. Difficult to ignore the GPEW supporters in the comments demanding a standard the GPEW itself does not meet.
Proud to back @transliberationgroup.org.uk — a brilliant grassroots group fighting for trans liberation within Your Party.

Their demands are essential for real party democracy. With trans people under unprecedented threat in the UK, I’m proud to always stand with the trans community.

Why tho. 500k would not close the gap between politicians and elites. They would be as incentivized to do corruption on 500k as on 250k bc the people they're taking cash from are billionaires
ryan is right. people HATE hearing this. but it is just a matter of simple incentives. if you want a more representative legislature — and if you want a legislature more resistant to corruption — then you need to jack up the salaries. serving as mayor of NYC should net you a cool 500K *at least*
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up

One of the many things things wrong with this is that taxing the rich is not just about getting revenue, it's about reversing (or at least slowing!) the trend where 100 people end up owning everything.
Tax policy on the British left is pure "anti-bedtime left". Bizarre idea that you can have a big social democratic welfare state without everyone contributing properly www.economist.com/britain/2025...

Note how @duncanrobinson.bsky.social:

1. Elides distinction between inc/wealth tax
2. Claims tories left a prog. inc. tax system by pointing to share of tax rev. over marg. rates
3. Fails to interrogate the flimsy notion of headroom/fiscal reality
4. Leans into “contribution” rhet. + makes up a guy

Part of what I hate about this government is they announce plans that sound good in the headline but scratch the surface and they're nothing burgers.

Insanely demoralising.

People can and should have nice things.

If someone writes a report saying "we build transport that is too nice and that's why projects are expensive and that's why we don't build more of them" then not only should their analysis be discarded as junk but they should be pilloried.

Gotta say I don't buy it.
