I was incredibly sad to have missed the Mileships kickstarter by @ianmcque.bsky.social, so i'm desperately looking for it to come out in a purchasable form!
Ian McQue's MILESHIPS narrative art book is just splendid stuff from cover to cover. I really hope the publisher will be able to release it widely for more to enjoy ( it was Kickstarter funded ). My review coming soon.

It's sad to me when photographers amplify AI images trained on stolen photographs and videos made by their colleagues. Killing their own industry one "harmless joke" at a time.

Watching Michael Flatley's vanity project Blackbird in an empty cinema with my partner and I shittalking it loudly the whole time. Also, seeing Cats multiple times, each generating fresh and amazing audience reactions.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.

It's always interesting to note that AI is never advertised as making anything new, it's just the old stuff, but faster. It sells productivity increases, because that's all AI hypers see humans as: machines to make value. AI hypers want you to make more value and fill the saved time with more value

Every bracket four #mtg deck is just goodstuff and tutors. It's the least interesting format imaginable. It's so, so boring.

The problem with getting into coffee is that I don't know whether I'm excited cos I finally got the grind right and have the timings all sorted for my favourite bean, or I'm just so full of caffeine I can barely think.

Never underestimate the power of writing to complain about a small UI issue in an app. No-one ever feeds back on these things, and a single message gets a ridiculous amount of visibility because one piece of data is better than none. I've totally rebuilt enterprise UI based on a single complaint.

At risk of flogging a dead horse: this whole letter is a reminder that the creative process is an end in and of itself, and vital to self-actualisation. You can’t experience BECOMING, as he puts it, by outsourcing it to ChatGPT.
In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

@danaroach.bsky.social i've been spending the last few days building Golbez as pure artifacts, inspired by your Callaphe deck, and using nothing but scryfall searches. This is easily the most fun I've had in deckbuilding. The cardpool is so big that restrictions aren't jank now, they're focus.

It's funny how no-one has any ideas for AI applications other than: what we already do, only worse, and somehow more expensive.
